A city break to Tromso is a joy whatever the season. In spring and summer months it offers pristine nature and wonderful hiking opportunities and a chance to clear your mind and renew your soul. In winter months of course a Tromso short break is ideal for those in search of the Northern Lights. At 69 degrees North Tromso is one of the best placed cities in the world to witness the Northern Lights phenomenum and the sighting rate as a result is one of the highest in the world.

However if the Aurora Borealis is proving elusive Tromso also offers a wide variety of additional holiday entertainment. The town itself has the largest number of wooden houses in Northern Norway and its cafes, pubs, restaurants and museums are a delight to explore. For the adventurous souls amongst you we also can arrange some amazing activities such as Dog sledding tours, Reindeer Sleigh rides, Snow mobiling tours and you can even stay a night or two in the wilderness with a Sami tribe.

Hotel Description:

As part of our Norway holiday programme we work with the Rica Ishavshotel located in a beautiful spot on the quay in Tromso. The location offers stunning views over Tromso harbour, Shavskatedralen and Tromsdalen. It is also only a few minutes walk into the heart of Tromso with perfect access to the shops, bars and restaurants! 
It is of course perfectly situated to gain great views of the Northern Lights and it is not uncommon for guests to enjoy wonderful views of the lights at all sorts of hours. The hotel can even set a Northern Lights wake up alert against your hotel room if desired.
The Rica Ishavshotel also won the “Travellers Choice Award” and is rated on Trip Advisor as the 5th best hotel in the whole of Norway. Their staff members understand the meaning of good old fashioned high quality service.
There are 180 rooms in total including a number of beautiful suites should you wish to upgrade for a special occasion!
The Gallionen Restaurant” is a delightful mix of café and à la carte dining. The “Brasseriet” restaurant offers delicious, traditional cuisine and specialities from northern Norway to tickle your taste buds.
The hotel also has two bars, “Galleriet Bar” and “Skibsbroen Bar”, both located at the end of the mouth of the fjord with a fantastic view of Ishavskatedralen and TromsøBridge. Stunning in summer hiking months and of course great viewing platforms for the Northern Lights in winter.

    A: When you are satisfied with your holiday itinerary/package offer, we will re-confirm the availability. We will require a deposit per person to secure the booking. The remaining balance must be completed 8 weeks before departure. If you book within the 8 weeks prior to departure date, then the full balance must be paid.
