  • Boat categories & cabins – Sail Croatia

Q: Tell me more about the boat categories & cabins
    A: No problem, read below:

B-category boats, are 2 bed cabins, which are usually bunk beds. B-category boats are favoured amongst the young-minded travellers [ages from 18-35]. B-category boats have shared bathrooms and toilets.

A-category boats, are 2 bed cabins, which are usually bunk beds [some twins & doubles on request only!]. A-category boats are favoured amongst the young-minded, working professional traveller [ages from 25-44]. These cabins offer en-suite private bathrooms and wc/showers.

A+ plus-category boats, are 2 bed cabins, which are usually twins & doubles. A+ plus-category boats offer en-suite private bathrooms and wc/showers, larger space, air-con, daily changing/cleaning, sun-beds on deck, and additional extras.

Premier plus-category boats, have everything of the A+ standard, but offer even more facilities like hot tubs on deck, and boutique bedrooms [perfect for romantic stays or high-end luxury].

Q: What is the difference between ‘above’ and ‘below’ deck cabins?
A: Above deck is situated on the main deck of the boat. Below deck cabins are found in the hull of the boat. A benefit with the cheaper below deck is often they are much cooler as they don’t heat up as much during the day. The benefit with the above deck is they are on the top of the deck with most above deck cabins opening out to the ocean. There are pro’s and con’s to both – the below deck cabins are often quieter at night as you do not have other travellers walking past your cabin as much as the above deck cabins. Above deck cabins offer more natural light and ventilation. Each boat is unique and therefore the cabin layout does vary from boat to boat. Please note: On some of the boats the above deck cabins are located on 2 levels, i.e. on deck and upper deck.

    Q: Who owns the boats?
A: The boats we operate with are owned  and run privately. Our local operations team in Croatia ensures all boats and crew operate to a high standard. In the rare occurance that there is a small problem, our local staff will react to your request immediately.

Q: How many people per boat?
A: This depends on the size of the sail boat, but the average boat size is around 25 people. Ensuite boats accommodate on average 30 people, with the Premier ships taking an average of 38 people.

  • Booking process & payment

    Q: Explain the booking procedure?
A: When you are satisfied with your holiday itinerary/package offer, we will re-confirm the availability. We will require a deposit per person to secure the booking. The remaining balance must be completed 8 weeks before departure. If you book within the 8 weeks prior to departure date, then the full balance must be paid.

Q: Can I secure a holiday by paying a deposit
    A: Yes. Read previous question.

    Q: How can I pay?
A: We accept all major credit/debit cards. On-line bank transfers are also accepted. Download our booking form to read further information.

    Q: Can we pay individually?
A: For groups larger than 6 people, we expect the group organiser to gather in the money from the relevant party members and make payment for the deposit/full balance. We understand the difficulties of this procedure, so your individual account manager will correspond with the accounts department, to make sure you have enough time & flexibility to get the money in on time.

  • Brochures

Q: Do you have a brochure?
A: In line with our green eco-policies we do not produce what would be classed as a traditional paper brochure

  • Fast track ski hire

Q: What is fast track ski hire?
A: It’s a local Slovenia VIP service to help guests maximize their ski time

Q: Why do people pay for Fast track ski hire? I see it costs 50 Euros per day if you book it in Slovenia.
A: The worst part of any ski holiday is the hassle of collecting and returning of  snow equipment. The long lines of people waiting to try on boots & skis, whilst standing / sweating in your full winter gear is not nice! But it’s something you can’t avoid [unless you have your own winter gear]. We do something very different, by organizing your passes and equipment the day before! We also store and transport everything. SIMPLE! It’s a great service, with excellent equipment and best of all NO QUEUES! This is a completely unique ski service, maximizing your stag experience, reducing wasted time and letting you relax & enjoy the slopes more than the average punter.

Q: 50 Euros per person per day seems expensive? We want to keep the cost down!
A: If you book a complete package with us, we will include Fast Track Ski hire – totally FREE of charges. You just need a minimum of 8 people.

Q: What is the nearest ski resort called? How does it operate?
A: In Krvavec (the nearest ski resort to the city centre), groups must first queue for their ski passes, followed by the ride on the ski gondola to the top of the mountain. Once ontop of Krvavec, you will find there is only one very small ski shop. Using this method of ski rental, clients must queue and collect/return equipment everyday [twice daily]. This whole process is slow and bites into the amount of ski duration on the slopes. This is the reason for this Slovenian company offering VIP services. Now our Slovenia ski stag packages get the treatment for free.

  • Flights in general

Q: Can we book plane tickets through your travel company?
A: Yes. We are a fully bonded ATOL member. ATOL Protection extends primarily to customers who book and pay in the United Kingdom.

Q: Can we book our own flights and then book with your travel company?
A: Yes. It is common for our customers to book their own flights especially with low cost carriers. We will simply help with the rest.

  • Holiday information packs

Q: When can I expect to receive my holiday information pack [example: tickets, hotel vouchers, tour information]?
A: We send your holiday information packs 10-14 days before departure. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your 1-1 expert travel manager.

Q: What if I have a problem abroad?
A: For most holiday bookings, we will provide you with an emergency contact name/number, who will be able to help during difficult situations. This is not available for activity, transfer, flight ‘only’ bookings.

  • Insurance

Q: Should I take out insurance before travelling?
A: Yes. It is extremely important that all travelers booked must have travel insurance, whilst travelling with us. Its part of our booking conditions, as we want your safety to come first.

  • Northern Lights & Aurora Borealis

Q: What are the Northern Lights?
A: The Aurora Borealis (also known as the Northern Lights) are electrical particles from the sun pulled towards the Earth’s magnetic field, that collide with the gas in our atmosphere. At the point of collision, the excess energy is emitted as incredible light, creating various colours.

Q: Am I guaranteed to see the Aurora Borealis on this holiday?
A:  The Northern lights are a completely naturally occurring phenomenon, and as such, can never be guaranteed. We always advise that you should travel in hope of seeing the Northern Lights, rather than expect to see them. The good news for our clients, is that we are in the very best possible position to see them. We are far away from any major light pollution from towns, being nestled in the heart of Lapland’s wilderness.

Q: What is the best time of night to see them?
A: It tends to be between 23.00 – 03.00 am. But they can be seen as soon as the skies are dark, and clear from clouds.

Q: What colours will i see?
A: The most common aurora colour is green. Other colour possibilities include red, blue, yellow, purple, and pink

Q: What shapes will they make?
A: This is the true mystery! We have seem them dance like puppets, swirl like wind, hover like clouds and dart like Usain Bolt. They are mind blowingly beautiful.

  • Protection & financial security

Q: What protection can you offer us? How can I check, you’re actually a legally running UK company?
A: Your holiday time is important, so we know there is lot at stake here!  Rest assured, we are a very real & trust worthy company. and not an internet cowboy. We are: Vamos Travel Ltd – our UK address is: Pure Offices, 54, Plato Close, Leamington Spa, CV34 6WE – England. We abide to UK laws and regulations. Make an appointment and visit us! A UK limited company has to be registered with www.companieshouse.gov.uk A legitimate travel firm should be able to provide you a companies house number. Don’t be afraid to ask for this straight away. Our company No. 4378409. Also, legitimate companies will be registered with the ‘Civil Aviation authority’ a government run scheme. Each company registered – has an ATOL number. This number can be checked on the website www.atol.org.uk – Vamos Travel Ltd – has the ATOL number 5927

Q: Which is better ATOL or ABTA?
A: Both are industry recognized, and both enable you the consumer to do your research into a company’s background. Always book a holiday with a company that legitimately and directly holds one of these licenses. Remember some agents might claim they are ATOL or ABTA, simply by placing a logo on their documents! This is largely a scam, and one we keep seeing on pop up websites! Always ask for the companies official number, and check it on the UK government website – www.atol.org.uk

Q: Tell me more about the different forms of protection against insolvency?
A: This is a slightly more complicated question, and it doesn’t help when one company claims that ABTA is better than ATOL (& visa versa). What ‘you’ the consumer must understand is that the organiser of a package holiday must, at all times, be able to show sufficient evidence of security for pre-payments and for repatriation in the event of insolvency. There are 4 methods currently recognized within the industry: Trust accounts, ATOL, ABTA & specialist insurances.

Q: How else do we know our booking will be secure, when we are abroad?
A: Vamos Travel ltd is not only ATOL protected but we pay our suppliers & local staff before you travel. This means all your services are paid in full before you arrive in the country! Also, our company holds no bank loans or takes credit! So unlike the big travel companies [with their fancy TV adverts] going bankrupt, and giving the industry a bad name – we deliver on our payment promises! You are in safe hands.

  • Reviews

Q: Do customers leave feedback or reviews of your holidays?
A: Yes, we take great pride in receiving them. Each holiday program has there own review tab, so new customers can hear the voices of our past & repeat clients. Please see the ‘review’ tab button on this page. On the home page of our website, you can also locate the general review centre button. But do note, that these reviews are not specifically related to the holiday you are currently reading/reviewing. Enjoy the reading, as there are many top tips & insider advice!

Q: How do I leave feedback?
A: Some holidays we ask our clients to complete a feedback form

Q: Can I send feedback directly to a general manager / company director?
A: All feedback is received by our product managers, not your 1-1 travel consultants. The feedback forms are then used for our staff’s monthly evaluations. The most praised staff during that month receives various rewards.
