Berlin
is now firmly re-established as the capital city of Germany. It
is unusual in having three major opera houses, so even a short
trip can provide a very wide choice of opera repertoire. Baroque
opera, contemporary works, rarities as well as the standard
repertoire can all be heard. When not at one of the opera
houses, there is the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the
Potsdamer Platz and what remains of the Wall to be explored
during your Berlin sightseeing tours. Many day excursions can be
booked and we know you'll love the German cuisine & dining
experiences you'll have.

The Bratislava opera & ballet is held at the
Slovak National Theatre, on Hviezdoslavovo Square and is of
exceptional quality. The Telegraph wrote: ‘Bratislava is the
perfect place for a night at the opera’, and we strongly agree.
Bratislava is a
sight seeing heaven, easily orientated due to its size
perfect for those short breaks away.
Contact the opera holiday specialists either by phone or e-mail
and we’ll create the most amazing tailor made holiday for you.
Slovakia is a wonderful country and will leave a positive &
everlasting memory once visited. |

Music and the arts have flourished in Budapest
as the city has regained both its freedom and its reputation as
a cultural centre. The State Opera House dates from 1884 and was
built as a rival to the opera houses of Paris and Vienna. The
programme for the new season in Budapest contains a rich variety
of works including the standard repertoire and also many
Hungarian works which are not heard very often in the UK. The
State Opera will also be hosting several orchestral concerts
from the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra. Budapest has many
sightseeing and attractions for the visitor and those with a
particular interest in music will have much to see. Being a very
big city you'll love the worlds oldest running sub way system,
hearty Hungarian
food, and many
great things to
do in Budapest. |

Dubrovnik is not renowned for its music and
dance, although performances are of a high standard. What
Dubrovnik is know for, is the Summer Festival that runs for 45
days, hosting: drama, classical concerts, jazz concerts, choirs,
folk performances etc. Throughout Dubrovnik, many exclusive
places open up including the gorgeous Rectors Palace for events
to be held in. The outdoor plays are wonderful to watch,
especially underneath a starry night sky. For more details on
holidays to Croatia or Dubrovnik breaks, romantic
honeymoons trips and
opera tickets – call: 0870 762 4017 or make an on-line enquiry. |

Iceland is an amazing country to visit, loved
for its; unspoilt nature, contrasting sceneries, beautiful
waterfalls and friendly locals. Not only is its capital
Reykjavik a stunning place to stay & explore, it is a cultural
hot spot, offering many festivals, excursions and annual events.
More so, in the centre of Reykjavik is the ‘Garmia Bió’ which
host the Icelandic opera company. Although, only just over two
decades in age (which is young in opera history), it has a
fabulous repertoire and has gained international acclaim. We
suggest to our clients to find out for themselves. Contact the
opera’s abroad experts, 0870 7624017, for more information on
Europe & Iceland operas and ballet. |

The Latvian National Opera is the cultural
heart of Riga and has produced world class opera & ballet
performances since the 18th century. Each year, new & higher
standards are achieved to the delight of international
audiences, displaying strong roots in tradition, whilst
reflecting innovation and exceptionally creative visions.
Another major reason for Latvia’s importance in the operatic
calendar, is the annual Riga Opera Festival in June. |

The most respected and admired forms of
entertainment in St. Petersburg are the Ballet and the Opera.
Music and dance mix freely throughout the year and although both
the Ballet and Opera companies do tour, one of the companies
will be performing in St.Petersburg. The most respected theatre
in St.Petersburg is the Mariinsky theatre of Opera and Ballet.
The Mariinsky Theatre (also known as the Kirov) has been the
home of Russian ballet and opera since the 1860s and it was the
venue for the first performances of many great classics of
Russian opera such as A Life For The Tsar, Ruslan And Lyudmila,
Boris Godunov, Khovanschina, The Invisible City Of Kitezh and
The Queen Of Spades. Although the Mariinsky theatre was built as
St.Petersburg’s premier opera house, its reputation rests
largely on the ballet that was added to its repertoire two
decades later. The Mariinsky Company, formerly the famous Kirov
Ballet Company lures ballet lovers to the Mariinsky theatre,
every evening, to witness the finest dance company in the world. |

The operatic life of Warsaw is centred on two
very different theatres, The National Opera at the Teatr Wielki
and the Warsaw Chamber Opera. The National Opera and Ballet
occupies one of Europe’s largest theatres and the Warsaw Chamber
Opera gives its performances in a small converted church. The
Opera Narodowa (National Opera) presents performances of ballet
and opera from September through to June. The programmes include
the standard works of opera and ballet and also Polish operas
such as Strazny Dwor and Halka by Stanslav Moniusko. The Warsaw
Chamber Opera was founded in 1965 and is perhaps best known for
its Mozart Festival which takes place each summer during June
and July. This festival is always appreciated by our opera city
