What is there to do in Vilnius? Quite simply, a lot! Find on this
webpage, our recommendations of fun things to try, see and explore.
Have a great time!
If you’re holidays in Lithuania are planned for 3 or more nights,
then we suggest taking a day excursion to visit the ancient Trakai
Castle, just 30Km from the capital. In ancient times it was called
‘Town on the water’, since it is entirely surrounded by chains of
lakes. Nobody can deny the beauty of this district, there are more
than 200 cultural landmarks to be seen, from monasteries, lakes and
farms to palaces and a fantastic historical museum housed in the
Island Castle.
Shopping is always a fun way to pass time and what better way of
gaining an excellent orientation of the city, than a little bit of
holiday retail therapy. There are all the range of shops, markets
and indoor malls in Vilnius and they are not hard to find. The large
department stores are called Akropolis and Europa and have
everything underneath there roofs as you would find in England. If
you’re looking for amber, holiday gifts and traditional souvenirs,
then you’ll find those types of shops are best found within Vilnius’
old town. Our suggested Lithuania holidays souvenirs, would be to
buy some gintaras or amber. Amber jewelry from bracelets to watches
are among the most popular souvenirs from Lithuania.
A fantastic tourist holiday attraction, is the open air museum
‘Europos Parkas’ which attracts over 60,000 people annually. The
goal of the museum is to give an artistic significance to Europe’s
official geographic centre (as determined by the French National
Geographic Institute in 1989) and to present the best of Lithuanian
and international modern art achievements. The sculptures are
permanently exhibited amidst beautiful rolling hills, woodlands and
grasslands dotted with natural springs. The worlds’ largest artwork
made of TV sets, created by Lithuanian artist Gintaras Karosas has
been built at Europos Parkas. Guinness World Records acknowledged
the record in their official report. Europos Parkas is a picturesque
place, very relaxing and thoroughly interesting. We certainly
recommend it to weekend breaks visitors to Vilnius, if they have
time to spare or want to escape the city.
Take advantage of doing something completely different in Vilnius
and try many of the adventure sports activities on offer. Try an
afternoon at a shooting range, firing off automatic hand guns,
Kalashnikov’s and pump action shotguns. Clay pigeon shooting can be
organised and outdoor paintballing is another crazy stags adventure
breaks activity to try your hands at. These aren’t activities just
for the Vilnius stag weekends crowd; they’re definitely suitable to
anyone, who wants to experience something completely different on
their short city break in Lithuania. Recommended group sizes, should
be at least over 6 people, to make it cost effective, otherwise it
can be quite expensive.
In the Baltics, one can try off roading in jeeps, Quad biking,
indoor and outdoor Vilnius go-karting. For grand prix & speed
freaks, you’ll love these car activities, guaranteed to get the
heart racing. We recommend these driving activitys for parties of
over 8 people to make it costs effective. Driving activities are
very popular amongst the stag do’s that come to Vilnius, but are as
equally popular with our corporate Baltic city break clients. Have
an active holiday in one of the most underrated cities of the world.
