As the famous saying goes ‘When in Rome’ one should really try the local cuisine. Lokys Restaurant on the narrow Stikliu Street in the Old Town began its history in the 15th century, when merchants and craftsmen started their businesses there. Lokys is a medieval restaurant and has a fantastic menu, authentic décor and a unique atmosphere and is a great place for the total ancient Lithuanian experience. Another Lithuania cuisine specialist is Molinis Asotis restaurant and they continue to provide huge portioned dishes, in a comfortable environment. A well priced establishment with a consistency in quality Lithuanian food is Aukštaičiai, definitely worth checking out. Marceliukes Kletis is a popular authentic Lithuanian restaurant, where the waitresses wear traditional outfits and they play original folk music. Also, the Ritos Smukle Restaurant along Zirmunu Street has been recommended numerous times by many clients. The usual comment is that the food is superb and the décor is like visiting an old world country cottage. Other Chinese restaurants are: Rytų Perlas, Rytai and Stebuklingas Paukstis. Sushi lovers should head to Kabuki on Didzioji street by the Town hall square. There is an impressive menu and the food quality is excellent and you can also ask for a private room with a karaoke machine. This has become quite a popular place to come and eat in Vilnius for stags do’s and hen parties, who like to entertain there friends with their vocal gymnastics. Obviously its not just for stag weekends in Vilnius, it’s a fun place for couples and corporate parties to eat and sing along. Located in the Europa mall, is one of the top sushi restaurants ‘Miyako.’ Many of our Lithuania city breaks clients have had the good fortune to dine here and have not failed to be impressed by the service , interior or by the delcious Japaense food. Sue Ka Thai is just outside the old town to the west. This was one of the first Thai restaurants in the Baltic States and has one of the best reputations. Sue Ka Thai is definitely worth trying on holidays to Lithuania. It has all the correct elements, good food, great service and a well priced menu. La Provence is truly one of the most mouth-watering choice restaurants in the old town for romantic breaks and luxury holiday stays. Savory fish choices include red mullet, monkfish and fresh, hot and smoked halibut. But if you really want to throw caution to the wind, take on the lamb knuckles or roebuck filet with cherry sauce. La Provence also houses the most uncompromising wine list in town. Da Antonio I in the Old Town, offers professionally prepared authentic Italian cuisine, the wine list is great and the service is friendly & attentive. Sorrento restaurant is situated in the old town of Vilnius, in the old styled house on Pylimo street and is a perfect modern Italian restaurant. Here you’ll find spectacular pastas, salads that could have been designed by Armani himself and a comprehensive wine list. It’s certainly a fine place to eat in the Old Town and won’t be a disappointment for your weekend breaks in Vilnius. Based in the heart of the capital, is the fully restored ‘Freskos’ dating back over 350 years and has been tastefully decorated with original props, costumes and posters from operas, ballet and theatre shows from the 1900's - 1940's. What makes ‘Freskos’ stand out from many restaurants is its warm atmosphere and lively service. Combined with an internationally trained, award winning kitchen staff ‘Freskos’ has become one of the most famous restaurants in the Baltic States. Another city break must-dine is Literaty Svetaine located by the front of the Vilnius Cathedral. There are only a few good steak restaurants, which can offer delicious food, good service and a nice atmosphere. One of the best you’ll find on a weekend holiday in Vilnius is Helios steak house restaurant, located in the heart of the old town just in front of Rotuses square.
