| The best bars, pubs, nightclubs and hotspots in Vienna |
In this section, you’ll find a comprehensive list of all the best
establishments to try. We have reviewed a wide cross-section of
venues, for all types of night explorers, partying in Vienna. This
awesome city has something to suit everybody, from expensive-yuppie
bars, down to earth pubs, , plush casinos and cutting edge
nightclubs.
Buddha bar-restaurant has a cool, low lit ambience and is a great
establishment for quality food and drink. The atmosphere is always
lively & the clientele is a pleasant mix of many ages, locals and
weekend break foreigners. The Djs play a good selection of music and
the bartenders make a mean cocktail. If you’re looking for somewhere
upbeat for the evening, then grab a table at Buddha, enjoy there
excellent food or wide range of beverages and start your Vienna
break with a big smile. Rhiz bar is a platform for new projects and
experiments in electronic music, film and video presentations. The
daily Dj programs and live performances of Austrian and
international musicians, definitely makes Rhiz an important part of
the Viennese electronica scene. The drink prices are reasonable, the
staff are down to earth and the clientele are a mix of music loving
foreigners & locals. Rhiz is a great alternative to the many hectic
bars and a place to escape the main stream party people & stag
weekend parties. One of the most stylish venues to find is the
futuristic B72’s. Although on the outskirts of the city, B72 is
worth a look. The bar area is filled with chic furnishings and the
club room is always pumping to the DJs music box. The crowd is a
sleek mix of trendy socialites, who appreciate the wide mix of
music, ranging from dancehall, RnB and house. It’s a winner to meet
down to earth people and not run into stagweekends. For cocktail &
Vodka drinkers, try Absolut bar. The venue is a living Absolut
advertisement but nevertheless, it’s not a bad place to come for a
drink. They have a massive selection of vodkas from all over Europe,
in many styles and flavours.

All stag weekend Destinations

Cactus bar, found in the vibrant Bermuda triangle, never shows
signs of slowing down on the weekends. Parties can go on well past
4am and the atmosphere is electric. People are always pouring into
this bar as one of their many stops during a big night out. The
crowd tends to be quite young, mainly students or stag do’s on a big
weekend session, but it’s still a top place to try. Also in the
Bermuda triangle is Bermuda Bräu, another big party hangout. Popular
with a younger hip crowd, it’s a good place to meet a load of
friendly locals and silly hen & sports tours abroad. Also, try First
Floor in Vienna's Bermuda triangle. The bar has more of an exclusive
nightlife feel than other popular bars down this stretch and serves
some excellent drinks. Its main feature is the large aquarium behind
the bar and the best night to come on, apart from the weekends, is
Monday, for the live jazz. Although First Floor is in the middle of
the notorious party zone, full of tourists, young students and stags
weekends, it has managed to maintain its mature atmosphere. We
recommend this to clients looking for a bar with a mature-relaxed
vibe.
If you like to go to trendy-chic bars then you’ll love Babu. This
multi leveled club-bar-restaurant is one of the coolest places and
as you would imagine has one of the strictest door policies. It’s
very rare to see scruffy people in Babu. Although, you’d expect this
chic club to be over pretentious, it actually isn’t. The people are
friendly, the dancers are sexy and even the staff are extremely
welcoming. Bar Italia is a refined cocktail lounge, with elegant
furnishings and décor. It’s an elegant place to relax and meet with
friends and the clientele is a lot more mature & chilled out. Bar
Italia is a better alternative to the noisy student & stag nights
bars that can be found around the more lively night spot areas.
Although it’s more expensive at Bar Italia, the drinks are well
prepared and served efficiently. One of the most popular bars in
Vienna is Blue Box, which often hosts funky jazz and new electronic
nights and is a respected bar amongst the alternative scene. The
atmosphere is usually welcoming, with a cross section of tourists,
locals & expats. In the large Leopold Museum, is one of the coolest
places to check out, the bar-disco-restaurant ‘cafe-Leopold’.
Whether coming here to laze on a sunny afternoon and drink coffee or
to party hard until the early light, cafe-Leopold is a quality
option every time. The restaurant too has a fabulous reputation, for
excellent prices, innovative dishes and great service. Cafe-Leopold
is a breath of fresh air and should be visited day and night, to
experience it from all angles on your Vienna breaks. Another Vamos
Travel favourite is Expedit Bar, which is situated in an old fabric
warehouse. They serve lovingly cooked Ligurian cuisine and have an
excellent selection of wines. After dinner, take your drinks down
stairs into the basement and enjoy a game of Italian bowling, known
as boccia. Something a little different to do on your hols.
If you like old styled American bars then hunt out Castillo. This
dark-classical decored late night bar has an excellent reputation
for serving some of the best cocktails in the capital. It’s
definitely for the more sophisticated city break traveller, and not
for boisterous stag nights abroad. If you are after that refined
drink in a friendly place, then head to Castillo. Every vibrant
capital has there fair share of Irish pubs, one of the best in
Vienna is Flanigan's. The décor is typical, dark wooden flooring,
green shamrocks and there is a healthy selection of drinks, with
Guinness on tap of course. In the old metropolitan railway you’ll
find a stylish cosmopolitan bar called Halbestadt, near to the busy
Gürtel throughway. The summer garden is a cool place to relax when
the weather is warmer. One of our favourite late night bars is
Jenseits. It looks from the outside like somebody’s house and to
enter you have to ring the door bell. Inside the interior is
luxurious, the design is totally different from anywhere else. It’s
a Vienna holiday breaks must-drink. The crowd is mixture of high
rollers and trendy art types. We would recommend you experience this
bar-club whilst on a Austria short weekend city break, it’s like
nowhere else. On the 6th floor of the Haas haus building is Onyx
Bar, a very hip joint to try. The views are great, having the St.
Stephan's Cathedral opposite and inside the décor is equally
attractive. It’s a great late night option, perfect for cocktails
and for dancing. The sky bar is in one of the most chic locations,
with a first-class service and the best panoramic views that sweep
over the city Skyline. It might be a little pretentious and
expensive for some city break guests, but it is worth coming here
for an early drink or an afternoon coffee. For a relaxing drink or
for a romantic evening, the Skyline bar is an excellent choice and
we’d recommend you visiting it during your holiday weekend. If you
want more action, then head back to the Bermuda-Triangle, which has
something to suit all tastes. Krah Krah is our suggestion for hen &
stag dos. This place is quite spacious and is accommodating to a
rugby tours type pissups. There are plenty of tables, wide choice of
beer (55 in total) and food is available till 2am.
Live music is well represented in Vienna all the way through the
week, with many dedicated clubs hosting rock, blues and jazz nights.
One of the most established jazz clubs in the capital is Jazzland,
situated in an old church cellar. The drinks might be a little
pricey, but that’s what you should expect of Austria’s finest jazz
venue. Most evenings you can expect at least 3 sets, 9pm – 1am, from
various touring and homegrown artists. Benny Carter, Art Farmer and
Bud Freeman have all played here. Another respectable jazz club is
Porgy & Bess and well worth visiting. The club is set on two levels,
a ground floor and balcony and has made a reputation for its ground
breaking nights. The program is always wide & daring, but always
rooted in the soils of jazz. Porgy & Bess has featured many classic
artists & innovative groups like ‘London Elekricity’ and continues
to go from strength to strength.
Aux Gazelles is a Moroccan brasserie, along with a funky club and
the only hammam in the city. This multi functioning establishment
has sensual colours, hypnotic sounds and creates an intimate
atmosphere. The music program abducts you to journey through the
world of urban sound and special live acts. For those on a romantic
getaway or want to mix with a more mature crowd, then Aux Gazelles
is an excellent choice. Here you’ll be able to relax, converse and
immerse in a different culture. If you are looking to party,
celebrate a birthday or you’re on a lads night out, you won’t be
limited with places to try. From 8-10pm there are half priced
cocktails at Bricks club, where the party Dj plays your requests and
serious drinking can be done. This stag do heaven, plays 80s, glam
rock, RnB and lots of sing-along pop. Another popular club-pub
amongst expats, students and stag weekends is Chelsea. The club is
owned by an ex-pro footballer, so as you would imagine there are
many large screen TVs to watch the premiership.
The most well known club is Flex. It’s respected for its amazing DJ
line ups and booming sound system. Within this cave like club,
you’ll find all sorts of music being played from drum n bass &
techno to hiphop and live electronica. You don’t really find
football tours & stags here, just sweaty clubbers that don’t mind
having their ears bashed for 3 hours. If your weekend break needs a
little bit of phat bass, this is your night club, Flex is highly
recommended. Sunshine enterprises are a big music promotional &
production company. They throw many of the best club nights across
the capital. One to look out for is on Friday nights at the Meierei
club, which is in front of the Hilton Hotel. The Djs spin soul &
rare groove. Sunshine enterprises also do nights at Passage & Roxy.
Passage Club is plush and funky, always full of beautiful people.
It’s a must place to go clubbing in Vienna, the hangout for the
trendiest men and the sexiest girls. Weekends here are normally
dominated by house music, but Wednesdays are known for there amazing
hiphop & urban events. The actual décor of Passage club is
futuristic, with state of the art lighting and sound, giving the
impression of being on a space ship. Roxy club should be visited
also during a break in Vienna. It formerly opened as the Empire, but
since its revamp, change of management it’s now called the Roxy. The
music is electronic, the décor is posh and the clientele is a wide
mix of people.
Titanic is a restaurant and club. Mango is the name of the
restaurant and offers dinners many international cuisines from
traditional Italian dishes to spicy Mexican flavours. Down stairs,
you’ll find a cellar disco, where the disc jockeys play a mix of
soul, RnB and disco. On weekends the club normally shuts around 4am.
Kaleidoscope club neighbours many popular art galleries, so it tends
to draw the hip crowd in. The music is a blend of many cool genres
and the vibe is usually on-point. This is a great place for
discerning breaks travelers looking to avoid noisy hen night type
venues. Similar for its arty clientele is Club Schikaneder situated
in the middle of the Freihaus-Quarter. The Latino club Habana is an
unpretentious place to practice those salsa moves. The cocktails and
tequila are a big hit here and so is the general vibe. If you’re
looking for somewhere to meet a friendly out going crowd, then
Habana is a fine choice. Also, try downstairs in the restaurant
known as Marias Roses. Come for happy hour which starts around
8/9pm. Cafex is hip lounge-club type venue, with trendy socialites,
a nice décor and plays the latest house music.
One of Vienna’s hot spot clubs is U4. The most popular parties
are on Thursdays (gay night) and Saturdays (Urban night). There are
two rooms, which usually play house & hiphop respectively. It’s an
up for it crowd, that have come for the music rather than to be
seen. Drinks are well priced and the slide shows are always a
highlight. This club is particularly easy to find as its right
outside U4 metro stop, hence the clever name. An old favourite is
Queen Anne club, open daily from 10 - 5am. It’s where the famous,
beautiful and VIPs dance & party hard. There are marble dancefloors,
comfortable lounges, many bars and even an old Evergreen-Bar, where
you can hear only music from the fifties. Volksgarten slogan is ‘We
don’t make parties, we live them’ and its absolutely true. This is
the hottest club vibe in Vienna, where the people really dress to
impress. They throw many different themed partys, which are renowned
for being wild & exotic. For clubbing on your Vienna break, take
note of Volksgarten partys. The dress code police are always on
force, so make an effort with your clothes to avoid disappointment.
For lovers of ska, Reggae, ragga, afro-beats, hiphop, northern soul
and classic RnB, then Vibrations is your place in Vienna. For
excellent music and real down to earth people then check out the
vibrations.
Casino Vienna started out in Favoritenstrasse, where it opened on 21
April 1961. It subsequently moved to Hotel de France on Schottenring
in the city centre before transferring on 8 December 1968 to Palais
Esterházy, the oldest building in Kärntner Strasse, where it remains
today. The imposing architecture and interior design of the casino
is splendid and adds to the gaming experience. We highly recommend
the Casino Vienna as the best place to try your luck whilst on a
luxury weekend in Vienna. These are the most appealing casinos, a
short break winner for our clients!
| Stag nights in Eastern Europe – back on the Bloc |

The nightlife is very vibrant in Vienna, great for night owls, party
animals and stag night crusaders. However, it is more expensive to
party here than other European destinations, so don’t think Vienna

more expensive and sports activities are pricier. With this in mind
