Nightlife in Tallinn
Estonia City breaks: nightlife essential guide
|
|
As the sunsets on the Baltic Sea, the streets of Tallinn start to
thin and under the cover of night, this wonderful medieval capital
quietens and is often miss judged by foreigners, as lacking in
atmosphere. Don’t be fooled by the lack of people on the streets at
night and relish the joy that this city has defied the stag party
stereotypes. The night life, as you’ll soon discover, is a stylish
and progressive scene, offering a variety of all night
entertainment. There’s something to suit every taste, from the quiet
sophistication of a cigar lounge to pounding sweaty clubs hidden by
ancient monastry walls.

The majority of Tallinn’s best nightlife
activity is contained in the area in and around the compact Old
Town. As the trendy bars and popular clubs are all clustered in
close vicinity, it makes it possible for Estonia weekend break
clients to visit many venues throughout the night. Although Estonia
has become a popular destination for stag weekends, don’t read too
much into the media that tries to portray that Tallinn is over-run
with men celebrating their last nights of freedom. The capital is by
no means over run with stag weekends, so don’t be deterred by false
images. Book with the Baltic States holiday experts. Stag weekends

| The best casinos, bars, pubs and night clubs in Tallinn |
Tallinn's nightlife is regarded as one of the best in Europe.
The bars and clubs are concentrated within a small radius making it
easy to explore. In this section, you’ll find a comprehensive list of all the best
establishments to party. We have reviewed a wide cross-section of
venues, for all types of short breaks explorers who want to
socialize, drink and dance. This awesome city has something to suit
everybody, from chic-yuppie bars, down to earth pubs, cheap stag do
Tallinn nightclubs, up-market casinos and futuristic clubs. If you
would like Vamos Travel to arrange a night life guide or want us to
book VIP guest passes, we can also add this to your Tallinn break
itinerary.
Tallinn Nightlife Guide: Bars and pubs are typically open until at least midnight on
weeknights and later on the weekends. The more popular Old Town pubs
will stay open until the last client leaves. A pint of local brew,
Saku Originaal and A. le Coq Premium are the two local favourites
and cost around £1 to £1.50. If you’re looking for a more cozy
home-like drink, then we recommend that you try a traditional
Estonian Pub. Karja Kelder is a quality earthy pub, which serves
cheap beer and good food. It’s very popular amongst the locals and
makes for interesting surroundings for city break tourists. Molly Mallone's is a big Irish pub on the Town Hall Square and is a
popular meeting spot for just about everybody and is the one place
in town where you’re pretty much guaranteed to find a crowd any
night of the week. Tallinn Stag nights, students, locals all seem to
get together in this pub and mix with ease. A place worth mentioning
just for its classical and stylish interior is Scotland Yard and is
a good place to drink and enjoy some well priced food. One hot spot
venue which always seems to have atmosphere is Nimeta Baar, which
translates ‘pub with no name.’ Most visitors, especially hen parties
usually stumble into this fun bar, during the course of the evening.
There is always a nice mixture of foreign weekend break explorers,
expats, smiley locals and young students. Nimeta Baar has a small
dancefloor and hosts DJs on the weekend, its also popular for
watching big sporting events on its multiple TV screens. As you can
imagine the premiership matches draw in the local English crowd, so
expect the stag weekends to fill this place. Further along the road,
13 Suur-Karja, is Nimega baar or ‘The Pub With a Name.’ Like its
sister pub, this place is very busy on the weekends, maybe
attracting a slightly younger crowd, that love to get jiggy on its
packed dancefloor. Also, along this road is St. Patrick’s pub 1
situated in an old merchant house and is an alternative option for a
late night drink (Fri, Sat, 4am close), seems to be popular for
expats, sightseeing tourists and sports club tours abroad in Eastern
Europe.

Stag weekends in Tallinn are popular.
Kompressor is large café-bar, mostly frequented by Estonian
students that take advantage of the cheap beer, great pancakes and
large wooden tables. Funnily enough lad do’s always seem to find
this place. The crowd is 20 something’s and the vibe is usually fun
& inviting. Usually closes 3am on the weekends. Another, popular old
town drinking spot is McCool’s and is a massive venue. Located in
the same building as the Stock Exchange, this enormous bar has a
large main hall, VIP rooms, restaurant and wine bar. They have a
gigantic TV screen above the bar that often plays MTV and on the
weekends it displays the drink prices, which rise and fall by the
minute depending on demand. We recommend this to hen & stags and for
younger travelers. As you’ll soon discover, all the typical pubs and
sports bars like other European capital cities are on offer, but
what makes this capital so exciting, is its stylish & trendy
bar-club culture.
One of the most progressive bars is Café VS with its chrome
industrial interior. It’s known to be one of the trendiest places to
drink & eat and has set the standard for chic bars to follow. A
must-drink for any Tallinn breaks visitor. Over looking Freedom
square is the trendy; bar-restaurant-club ‘Moskva’ and has an
excellent reputation amongst the hip Estonian crowd. This high
concept restaurant-bar serves the Estonian social elite, offering
French-inspired nouvelle cuisine and colourful cocktails. For
discerning stag parties in Tallinn these are good choices!

Stag do's in Tallinn are popular and for those on a stag night
in Tallinn who like the exclusive vibe then try
Bon Bon, situated between the old town and the
port. The clientele is very well dressed and can be described as an
affluent party crowd, a mixture of local celebrities, higher fliers
and models. Bon Bon is an up market bar and doesn’t welcome large
stag parties to Tallinn, so we only recommend this place for smaller
Estonia weekend breaks groups. Attracting a similar crowd is Kaheksa
in the Soprus Cinema complex; know for its more discerning
socialites. Kaheksa is definitely an up market bar, with an exotic
interior design. It’s a very popular pre-club bar, a great place to
people watch and enjoy a refreshing cocktail. One of the hottest
bar-club restaurants is Pegasus and is always a hub of cool social
gatherings for your short Baltic break. This hip old town bar is a
great place to drink and dine whilst on a weekend breaks and is a
great place to start or end a session in this party capital.
The Beer House is a well known drinking establishment and is open
till 4am. Stag parties in Tallinn love this venue as the Beer house is home to the only micro brewery,
where 3 different kinds of beer are produced. Guests can drink mug
after mug of beer, eat good food and enjoy the live bands and disco
it provides. We recommend this for corporate events, Tallinn pissups
and stagdo partys. A bar that is completely unique to any other bar
in the world is Depeche Mode. And yes it’s not just a clever name,
it is a tribute bar to the famous 80s electronica band! It’s a dimly
lit unpretentious venue, serving good beer and some great cocktails
and like the Beer House is welcoming to all group sizes, including
stag dos. For a different vibe from usual tourist trap pubs, we
suggest you try Club Havana, which is the only latin music dance
venue. Although salsa is the dominant theme to the bar, the DJs play
a range of quality disco hits and good pop music. If cocktails and
latin music isn’t your scene, then try Woodstock a themed bar
dedicated to the psychedelic era of the 60s. This groovy pub always
attracts a healthy crowd, mostly because the drinks prices are a lot
lower than most old town pubs.

Nightclubs in Tallinn like most quality cosmopolitan European
capitals only start to fill around midnight and don’t close till
around 6am. There is a huge variety of clubs to choose from, like
old industrial warehouses to monastry cellars and modern casino
clubs. Club entry fees are not high in comparison to Britain and as
most of the best clubs are nestled close together in the old town,
it makes it possible to visit a number of venues on the same
evening. If the night life is an important aspect to your Tallinn city
escape, you won’t be disappointed with Estonia. The nightclub with
the biggest reputation is Club Hollywood found in the very centre of
the old town, in an old baroque building, which used to be a cinema.
It’s a large club with 5 levels and 3 bars, raised dancefloors and a
modern sound system. Wednesday nights at Hollywood are somewhat
famous. On this night entrance is free for ladies, which makes this
the prime hotspot for singles. Fridays is also very good at
Hollywood, but from our experience Saturday nights always lacks
atmosphere and is less busy, but generally the dancefloor is packed
with gyrating bodies. Hollywood can’t be missed on your Estonia
breaks. Large sports tours, like touring football, rugby, cricket
teams should pre-arrange a guest list with the management, as the
door control doesn’t like to see large groups of men.

Riff, a 2 floored restaurant-club, which has been elegantly
furnished with red sofas, large mirrors and wooden tables that
reflect an atmosphere of style and sophistication. The Djs play a
mixture of classic disco, R&B and other appropriate club music. We
have had many nights at Riff and will continue to recommend it as a
fun clubbing option for weekend breaks. The door policy can be
strict for gents partys just out for a Tallinnpissup, so we advise
making a guest list, to avoid being turned away. For the hardcore
clubbers, we would recommend Nightman which starts to fill around
3am and is a great option for all night dancing. Nightman is a
friendly and intimate club and attracts a mixed crowd of dance music
lovers. Book your Baltic state city break with the Eastern European
travel specialists. Club Prive gravitates a more posh clientele than
other club venues. There is an air of social sophistication in
Privé, the people are smartly dressed and the promoters book the
best Estonian & foreign DJs. Most notably Club Prive has had Kenny
dope and King Britt grace there turntables.

Located in an old firehouse is a 2 storey nightclub called Venus.
This popular club hosts a variety of themed nights throughout the
week, from ladies night on Wednesdays, go-go dancers and dance
competitions. The Djs play a mixture of mainstream hits and RnB and
the crowd is a nice mix of locals and foreigners. Another hot spot
is Parlament a massive mainstream disco, with a 2500 people
capacity. Bargain holiday deals, cheap drinks, cheesy music, it’s an
essential for students and stagdos in Estonia. Although for serious
music lovers it might not be the coolest of places to be seen, its
an incredible venue full of friendly faces, who are out for a fun
nightout. Panoraam is found on the top floor of the Metropol Hotel
and attracts an unpretentious crowd of locals. The vibe is very much
like a ‘cheesy Butlins’ disco, with on stage games played throughout
the night, but the atmosphere is very jovial and extremely
entertaining. If your not so into serious clubbing and want to go
somewhere to drink and be silly, this is a cool place to try.

Tallinn stag nights are endless: Café Amigo is another hotel nightclub, this time located at Hotel
Viru on a lower basement level. It’s known for hosting quality blues
and rock bands throughout the week and for having a more mature
crowd. One of Tallinn’s largest night spots is Terrarium situated in
the old port area and is probably big enough to home 3 nightclubs.
We would say that Terrarium is more on the commercial edge, playing
pop-dance and disco throughout the majority of the evening. The
crowd is generally young, teens and early 20s and drink prices are
very reasonable. Due to its size and party atmosphere, we would
recommend it maybe for larger stag do’s in Tallinn. Two more similar
nightclubs are Atlantis and Club XS.

For stag dos in Tallinn looking to try there hand at a
bit of 007 action try: Astoria-Palace Monte Carlo is located in the main square and is a
very popular casino set in an historical building. Indeed, just a
metre or two below the glamorous and always busy centre you almost
find yourself in another world. This world is not rushing anywhere,
it radiates with mellow tones, offering an ideal opportunity for
relaxation and entertainment. Discerning Tallin short breaks clients
will like this casino. Olympic Casino’s are perhaps the largest
Baltic States operators, with casinos in Estonia, Lithuania &
Latvia. One of there best casinos is found at the Reval Park Hotel &
Casino and is open 24hrs. The Reval Park Hotel & Casino is a
combination of Las Vegas entertainment and European manners. The
entertainment centre with a gourmet restaurant is situated in the
heart of the capital, hosts concerts and performances, provides
special offers and has the newest slot machines and tables for
roulette & Blackjack. We certainly recommend any of the Olympic
casinos for Baltic State breaks. Located in the hub of the capital,
on Pärnu Road opposite to the Drama Theatre, lies the truly modern
and trendy Olympic City Casino. The casino offers cutting edge
gambling games, ultra-modern interior design and a contemporary
spatial layout. The location can easily be accessed by guests
enjoying the old town on foot and they will appreciate the bar,
which offers the best and cheapest Italian coffee in the city and
the opportunities for currency exchange. Casino London is a little
bit of England in the Baltics. British design, relaxed environment
and friendly people, Cuban cigars, excellent selection of beverages,
and, of course exclusive entertainment. This comfortable casino is
located in the Hotel Metropole.

It is not only the historical views that will take your breath
away, but for sure, so will the women that parade the streets like
super models. By night, behind the well-preserved facades of the
medieval buildings are chic bars, hot night spots, good value
restaurants and high culture entertainment, from Opera to rap
concerts. The pavement bars beckon, the old Town fills as night
descends and the cobblestone streets are the most intriguing place
to stroll (stagger) along under the moon light. This stunning
capital is a refined paradise that delivers something completely
different to other stag weekend destinations in Europe.
