Chervilo is an up-market club in Sofia, made for the Bulgarian social elite. Chervilo, translates ‘Lipstick’. Located below the SAS Radisson Hotel and opposite the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral it offers a perfect place to plan your lads pissups. It’s typical of all Irish pubs, but it is one of the better ones we’ve drunk in, in Eastern Europe. Pub Shweik is a cheesy local pub, which is worth a visit. It offers great prices in a friendly atmosphere. The food is inexpensive and decent. For those who like their trendy bars then check out Buddha bar. The chilled eastern décor and the funky tunes mean it is a popular choice as a pre-club bar. They serve some excellent cocktails at reasonable prices. The clientele is varied and includes couples, groups and discerning parties, looking for a sophisticated night’s clubbing. There are some nice private seating areas and in the main bar there are normally beautiful go-go dancers adding to the vibe.

A sophisticated club is Club Dali. It is another Latino influenced Night Club but it does cross over into some deep house and RnB. It is an amazing place to visit and even the likes of David Beckham would gel into the background here. It is definitely an image conscious venue and face control is strict on the door so lad type party’s should probably avoid here if they are planning to get dressed up as school girls; we doubt they will see the funny side of it. The Latino nights are by far the best here, everyone who comes here comes for a great dance. The people who frequent this club are very nice and leave all their attitudes & problems at the door. Great choice for a Eastern Europe stag night and fun filled weekend break. A popular restaurant-club in the down town is Sturgaloto, which translates ‘meeting place’. It’s a mix of business men, gorgeous Bulgarian girls, flashy expats and Sofia short break visitors. Not really the place for drunken stags, but you can always rock up and see for yourselves. Although, it sounds like a potentially pretentious place, in fact it isn’t. The bar staff are very friendly, if not flirty, the food is excellent value for money and the drinks prices are still very cheap in comparison to the UK. We highly recommend you lookout for Sturgaloto on your evening adventures. It definitely ranks as one of the best bars in the capital and a good choice for a pre-club drink. Briliantin is excellent dance club. Good reputation for house and techno music.
