When dining out in any new capital, the choice is normally
overwhelming and can be very hit and miss. Feel free too use our
recommendations and personal experiences in helping you to make a
decision of where to eat in Prague. Vamos Travel will be your food &
restaurant guide on your Czech Republic holiday.
It’s always great to have a medieval banquet, when staying in a
capital with such an amazing old town. Two popular medieval
restaurants are U Cisaru and U Sadlu. U Cisaru translates ‘At the
Emperors’ and here you’ll find a very authentic venue, perfect for a
festive occasion. The decor is composed of old tableware, hunting
weapons and dominated by original blacksmith’s bellows, evoking the
feeling of ages long past. It’s certainly a unique place to try on
your short break stay in Prague and the dishes will certainly not
disappoint. Famous people to have dined here include, Margaret
Thatcher.

Italian food is one of the most loved cuisines in the world and
is well represented. Don Giovanni is a high quality restaurant,
where you will find genuine traditional dishes from various regions
of Italy. Situated in the Old Town, only 50 metres from the Charles
Bridge, the restaurant features a spectacular view of the Vltava
River. On weekends, the traditional romantic atmosphere is enhanced
by live piano music. The foundation of the restaurants success is
the special care they have taken in selecting ingredients and the
special attention they have paid to the best Italian culinary
traditions. Sean Connery has dined here, so if it’s good enough for
‘James Bond’ it should fit the bill for your city breaks holidays in
Prague. We also highly recommend, Divinis on Tynska street in the
old town. This restaurant is a real gem, where every customer is
treated like an old friend. The interior is warm and friendly, the
service is excellent and the food is outsatnding. In short other
Italian restaurants to try are, Trattoria Cicala, Corleone, Corte di
Angelo and lastly Kogo in the Old town. Kogo is crowned by many as
one of the best restaurants in the capital, so why not be your own
judge and find out.
As one would expect on a holiday here, there are many fantastic
traditional Czech restaurants to be found. Kamenny Most is not only
a culinary delight, it is also a cosy place full of an entertainment
and well-being. Kamenny Most is a uniquely decorated Renaissance
cellar restaurant in the historic Centre, under Charles Bridge.
Connected to the restaurant is a lively music bar, where visitors
can watch the bartenders doing fire displays, dance to the live DJs
and for the stag nights, there’s even go go dancers. Another very
popular Czech restaurant to try is the Kolkovna in the Old town. The
portions are generous to say the least, the atmosphere is friendly
and the service is very attentive but not over bearing. If you want
to try this restaurant, then we advise you to make reservations. The
U modre ruze is situated within many gothic cellars, all blessed
with a rich history full of legends and romance. It’s a romantic
Prague city break restaurant and serves refined traditional Czech
cuisine. In the Little Quarter is U Vladare and serves some divine
Czech specilaities, vegetarian meals and many international dishes.
Stoleti is another traditional restaurant, serving smoked meats,
dumplings, cabbage and all of the other national specialities. It is
a small place with a lively atmosphere and fantastic service.
One of our favourite Japanese restaurants is Miyabi on
Navratilova street. The décor is traditional & authentic and
captures a Zen atmosphere, which really adds to the dining
experience. The chefs are incredible, serving some of the best sushi
in Eastern Europe. It’s a great place for a romantic meal or for a
large party of friends, with different areas available to various
sized groups. ‘Made in Japan’ is a great Sushi restaurant- bar to
relax and experience some great Japanese delights. Thirdly, Nagoya
restaurant was the first of its kind in the capital and offers the
whole range of traditional Japanese meals. They serve sushi,
sashimi, tempura, noodles and much more. Experience quality Sushi
delights on your Prague Holidays, there’s great deals to be had.
Lovers of Chinese food are in for a treat in Prague, with many
quality establishments to choose from. Huang He has built a strong
reputation for itself, based on good food and excellent service.
Also Macao is a very good option whilst dining out on holiday in the
Czech Republic. In short, other Chinese restaurants worth finding;
Fu Hao, U Draka and Neptun. If you want Thai food, then try Arzenal.
It is located in the centre, on the historical crossroads of Jewish,
Old and New Towns, it is a junction of cultures, where East and
West, architecture and design, fashion and styles meet. Orange Moon
restaurant has an excellent reputation for authentic Thai cuisine.
The interior is well designed and the service and food is of a very
high standard. Siam Orchid restaurant has developed its own unique
and delicious Thai cuisine dishes, all influenced from Chinese,
Indian and European cuisines. Like the Orange Moon & Arzenal, it has
a very popular following and is a must for good Thai food.
To experience the best of the Indian Culinary in the heart of
Europe, visit the Restaurant Rasoi & Bombay Cocktail Bar. On the
Ground Level is the Bombay Cocktail Bar with a very wide selection
of Cocktails & Beverages and in the Cellar is the elegant Restaurant
Rasoi, where you are introduced to one of the finest Indian cooking.
Upon entering the restaurant you immediately feel part of India with
spectacular interiors, courteous waiters dressed in Traditional
Indian Costumes and soothing Indian Music. It’s not like your
typical local Indian back at home, so you’ll be happy to know there
won’t be a drunken Prague stag weekend party making a noisy ruckus.
In short Rasoi is Indian food at its very best and a top city break
table to spice up your evening. Another well respected Indian
restaurant is Haveli. Not bound by any particular tradition, the
chefs at Haveli have picked dishes from diverse sources, from
wholesome villages to indulgent aristocratic favourites, from the
ancient and elaborate to the practical and modern. The chefs have
then honed these dishes to perfection, blending their original
flavours with a contemporary approach to nutrition. This has
resulted in a style unique to the Haveli, a culinary evolution,
reinterpreted to suit 21st century palates. For those travelling in
larger groups or on a stag do in Prague, we highly suggest
contacting the management in advance.
Vegetarian’s won’t be disappointed with Prague’s dining scene.
Some of the best dedicated vegetarian restaurants we have discovered
are: Country Life, Tulip Café, Beas and Zahrada v Opere. First to
mention is Country Life, a grocery store & cafeteria-style
restaurant. In the centre of town is the Tulip Café, next to the
state opera house is Zahrada v Opere and Beas is an Indian
restaurant specializing in vegetarian dishes only. Albio is a very
good organic restaurant in the Czech Republic. We recommend the
summer vegetables sautéed with oyster mushroom or whole wheat penne
with goat cheese sauce. Everything is prepared from fresh organic
raw materials produced by Czech organic farmers. For healthy eating
on your Prague holidays, you won’t go far wrong with these delicious
restaurants.
T.G.I. Friday`s restaurants have led the world in casual dining
since its earliest days at First Avenue and 63rd Street in New York
City. Its red-and-white stripes and bold blue exteriors are a beacon
for diners who identify Friday’s restaurants with seven-days-a-week
fun. It might not be the most original choice on your city break
holiday, but at least you’ll know what you’re in for. If you’re
looking to escape the noise, many tourists and boisterous stag do’s,
this might not be the place to come. Restaurant Jama offers
delicious American and Tex-Mex specialties inside a fast-paced
atmosphere where cool tunes and friendly service are on tap every
day. Jama has become synonymous with great burger and good times.
It’s a jovial place, normally frequented by many tourists and seems
to be popular amongst sports tours & lads dos. But don’t let the
words Prague stag nights put you off, it’s a great place, serving
great food and there’s always a happy hour there.
An authentic French eatery in Letna district is La Creperie. This
place has an unpretentious and easy atmosphere that reminds you of
being in the middle of French Brittany. French and Hungarian wines
along with apple cider complement the various sweet and savory
offerings. C’est La Vie restaurant serves excellent French &
international cuisine and its terrace overlooks the river & Charles
Bridge, making it the ideal setting for a romantic meal for two.
Restaurant U Patrona, situated in Drazického Square close to Charles
Bridge, offers an intimate atmosphere, where one can relish both
French and Czech cuisine. Dining guests can relax on the ground
floor pre-mises or the first-floor lounge with a window leading into
the kitchen where the chefs are preparing their choice dishes. In
the summer, there are tables in the garden and for the romantically
minded, there is a fabulous balcony for an intimate dinner, with a
breathtaking view of the Charles Bridge. All of these French cuisine
restaurants are ideal choices for romantic breaks in Prague.
Allegro restaurant is located within the world renowned ‘Four
Seasons hotel’ and offers not only one of the best menus, but also
its views of the Vlatava river and castle are magnificent. It’s an
elegant and upmarket restaurant, and the prices reflect the supreme
quality of the service, interior and food. Add some genuine class to
your Prague short breaks holiday and allow Vamos Travel to reserve a
table for you. At the forefront of contempoaray cuisine in the Czech
capital is Bellevue restaurant. Offering top international and
traditional Czech cuisine and a peerless view of the Castle and
Charles Bridge. For those who are looking for a more extravagant
restaurant for that luxury break experience, Café La Veranda in the
Old Town is a must-dine. The restaurant is stylish and modern and
the chef Radek David keenly mixes east and west cuisines. We advise
our guests to make reservations to avoid disappointment. This is one
of the best dining experiences you’ll have, whatever you get on your
plate; it will truly delight the eye, as well as your palate.
