Malta Day trips and excursions
“Mediterranean splendor & historical charm!"
|
Malta is a gem of an island located deep in the middle of the Med
directly south of Sicily. It offers a plethora of sightseeing and
day trip opportunities. With its rich history spanning many nations
including: the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Arabs, the Knights of
St.John and the British in more recent years. The diversity of these
cultures has made this tiny island of around 400,000 inhabitants an
intriguing and alluring destination for the discerning traveller.
For day excursions we would recommend starting with a trip to the
"Silent City" Mdina, Malta's original capital. It is a timeless and
beautiful UNESCO protected walled town steeped in history and fine
architecture on every corner. The winding narrow streets were
designed as a clever defensive strategy to stop archers and later
rifle men having clear shots; but now it simply adds to the
enchantment and charm of this magical place. We recommend spending
at least half a day here; lose yourself in the windy streets,
indulge in the wonderful local shops and relax in the unique
restaurants.

The next day excursions which are well worth visiting are Malta's
neighbouring islands Gozo and Comino. If you take a boat cruise you
will stop at the famous Blue Lagoon and can enjoy swimming in the
turquoise waters. The islands themselves are like open-air museums
giving you the chance to retrace the steps of history.
Day trips over the islands can also be arranged via a sea-plane.
This is a stunning way to see Valetta and the islands. For more
