There is always live music and jovial atmosphere and a good place a for a stag night session in Kyiv. Baraban & Golden gate are two other good pubs to find in the city centre. Modabar claims to have the longest bar-stand in Europe and has many skillful bartenders displaying their bar & cocktail skills to the many happy observers. There are DJs and live music throughout the week, playing a whole range of music, but it does edge more towards the commercial side. Another up market lounge bar to try is Safe on Velyka Vasylkivska street. The place is usual busy and typically full of Ukraine models, chic-socialites and the cool crowd. Opium dance club is more for progressive music lovers, not really the best place to come for light hearted chart music to sing along too. But for underground music lovers, then Opium club might be too your liking. Viola's Bierstube is a popular pub and a hang-out for both expats, kiev stag nights and fashionable young locals. La Cosmopolite Belgian Beer Cafe and its sister venue Belle Vue Belgian Cafe recreates the atmosphere and style of early twentieth century Europe. Period wooden paneling and 1920s style advertising decorate the bar, while large plasma screens give you a taste of the present. The bar stocks an excellent range of Belgian beers including unfiltered and fruit-favoured varieties as well as some rare kinds of beer.
