world. The dining scene is vibrant, inventive and fiercely
competitive. Berlin's cafes & restaurants have much more to offer

become a cultural and culinary melting pot, a place where East meets
West and where ancient traditions mix with modern experimentation.
The standard of food preparation in Berlin is high and at very
reasonable prices, so now is the chance to tantalize your taste buds
without leaving a hole in your pocket. Expect to find amazing
authentic Germany, French, Thai, Italian and Japanese restaurants,
scattered throughout Berlin’s many developing districts.
A little
Vamos Travel tip: if the bill states Bedienung, this means that the
service charge has already been added. This section of the website
highlights the best restaurants in Berlin. We only review the
restaurants that our staff or our clients have visited &
recommended. So let us be your food guide and use our positive
experiences to enhance your dining enjoyment whilst on your city
break holiday.
Two of the most unusual restaurants in Berlin are Nocti
Vagus and Unsicht-Bar, as both establishments serve food and drink
in total darkness. The waiters are blind and visually impaired and
the aim is for diners to experience new tastes & sensations. Dining
in total darkness, not only will you try some amazing international
dishes, but you can enjoy an inventive cultural programme. There is
relaxing music, jazz concerts, readings, mystery evenings and much
more. Both the Nocti Vagus and Unsicht-Bar will make for an
unforgettable dining experience in the capital and will make for
great stories about your weekend breaks in Germany.
There are many nice Italian restaurants & pizzerias to be
found. If you’re looking for top quality, fresh and delicious home
made Italian food, then it’s worth finding Baccanali. The owner
believes in putting time and effort into producing mouth-watering
dishes for his guests, thus all of the pasta you taste here is
fresh. For unbeatable value and taste sensation, try Mola’s pizzas,
an excellent short break choice. The portions are huge, maybe too
big for the plates and everything on the menu is cooked with passion
and experience. Francucci’s Ristorante is also known for its
excellent pizzas and quality authentic Italian dishes. Two more
popular Italian choices are Zwölf Apostel & Bellini’s. Of the two,
Bellini’s is more up market & more expensive, but you can taste
where you money is going. The food is fresh and the dishes are put
together very well. Ana e Bruno, the avant-garde Italian restaurant
in the heart of the city offers exciting and innovative cuisine for
the chic dining experience. Ana e Bruno has found the perfect union
of food and wine, a restaurant where you can taste the passion of
the master chef. To add some real class to your Berlin city
breaks, we would definitely recommend this exceptional
restaurant. Vamos Travel not only provides flights, hotels & tours,
we offer additional free services like table reservations and
informational packs.
Awarded one Michelin star every year from 1988 to 2001, the Alt
Luxemburg restaurant is one of the best eating out options in the
capital for your short breaks stay in Berlin. Many restaurant
critics have declared Alt Luxemburg as ‘excellent’, appreciating the
imagination of which Karl Wannemacher prepares each dish with the
help of his kitchen team. The décor is traditional & homely and the
dark colours and antiques create a relaxing atmosphere. Budget
minded holiday makers should look else where, as it is quite
expensive. The Zur Letzten Instanz is Berlin’s oldest restaurant,
in fact Napoleon is said to have sat at the table reserved for
regulars. Many important people have visited here, for its unique
history, excellent traditional cuisine and the relaxed atmosphere.
The fact that this ancient restaurant is always fully booked, really
speaks for itself. The food is well prepared and the service is
flawless. We’d recommend you try Zur Letzten Instanz. Many A-list
celebrities dine at Borchardt, an elegant French restaurant, where
reservations are essential. Although, it’s an up market restaurant
the quality is exceptional and its one of the best places to come
for authentic French cuisine. If your tastes require a luxury
restaurant, then Borchardt is an excellent choice. Other recommended
French restaurants whilst on a short breaks stay in Berlin are
‘Dressler’ and ‘Le Cochon Bourgeois’ which both serve exquisite food
& have an excellent selection of French wines. Located in the Ritz
Carlton Hotel is a restaurant that offers both a taste of French
cuisine and history in the heart of the capital. Desbrosses on the
Potsdamer Platz, might be a little more pricey than other
restaurants, but is totally worth it. This authentic French
Brasserie is an architectural standout among Berlin's new modern
structures of steel and glass, bringing the same diversity to its
cuisine. Our clients have raved about this establishment, we advise
you to come & see for yourselves.
There are many up market restaurants in Berlin, but one
that consistently receives praise and media attention is Hugo and is
a winner of the Berliner MasterCook award. This narrow dining room
has amazing panoramic views, where guests can enjoy views of the
park and the Potsdamer Platz. We highly recommend this wonderful
restaurant and we would be delighted to organise your reservations,
to perfect your weekend away. But don’t just take our word for it.
Der Feinschmecker is Germany’s leading magazine for travel, eating,
drinking and style and has voted Hugos in the Inter Continental
Berlin to be restaurant of the year. Hugos is one of the leading
culinary addresses in the capital, perfect for your romantic breaks.
There are many other great restaurants that are generalised under
the phrase international cuisine. One of the most unique is found
207m up the TV tower and rotates 360 degrees. The Telecafe offers
many types of world cuisine and not only can you try the
delicious menu but you can enjoy the spectacular view of the
surrounding city. It’s a dining out treat to be enjoyed for any type
of European city break.
Berlin's oasis, the Facil restaurant has been serving a
refreshing modern-fusion cuisine for some years with huge success.
Facil is the perfect place for unconventional gourmets seeking a
culinary experience and for people who prefer casual clothes to
formal dress codes and simply want to relax and spend an enjoyable
evening downtown. Facil is a Michelin starred restaurant and
has been awarded 14 Points from Gault Millau. It is one of the best
restaurants to be found in Berlin and we highly recommend you try
this fabulous restaurant, the young head chef Michael Kempf,
continues to go from strength to strength. The Gugelhof restaurant
has a warm atmosphere and makes for a pleasant dining experience.
The food is excellent and the staff are very efficient but not over
attentive. Interestingly, Bill Clinton ate here, whilst visiting
this eastern district. Vau creates excellent contemporary European
cuisine in an exclusive atmosphere where you're likely to bump into
Germany's movers and shakers, it even boasts a Michelin star. The
service is impeccable and the food is beyond reproach. Although
expensive, if you feel you deserve a culinary treat, this is the
place to splash out on your Germany holidays. Vau is definitely one
of the finer restaurants in Berlin. See and eat for yourselves.
The best Indian in the Kreuzberg area is Amrit. The place is
always busy on the weekends, so we highly recommend making table
reservations if traveling in large groups, or commnicating with the
management if they accept stag parties. They have gone for a more
modern approach to the décor, which really works and the staff are
really helpful and welcoming. In the Mitte district, one can find
Mirchi & Tagore. Both of these are busy Indian restaurants,
with an established base of regulars and their food has been very
pleasing on many occassions. The Turkish community, in particular,
has left its mark on the fast food scene in the capital. And to the
delight of stag do’s in Berlin, the Doner Kebab is one
of the city's most popular and readily-available snacks. Yet the
city still has its own distinctive fast food cuisine for visitors to
sample should they dare. The fast food flagship is undoubtedly the
Currywurst, a sausage sprinkled with curry powder and ketchup.
Although a discerning traveller’s nightmare, this is a hangover
saviour for the many men on stag nights who have had a little too
much to drink. If the Doner Kebab is your essential ingredient to a
big weekend home or abroad, then Berlin will be the right place for
your stag weekend.
There are many delightful oriental and Far East
restaurants to discover. Monsieur Vuong Indochina café offers a
specially selected and elaborate Vietnamese dishes, where Berlin
city break guests can enjoy many home made delicacies and freshly
prepared original recipes. This restaurant is always busy, which
speaks for itself. So get there early to avoid disappointment, as
tables are never reserved. Manngo & Mr Hai are two very popular
Vietnamese restaurants and pack the crowds in most nights. Both are
quality establishments and offer a good selection of dishes for
reasonable prices. An exclusive Thai restaurant worth visiting is
Mao Thai. It always seems to be busy whether weekend or mid-week,
which always speaks volumes for any restaurant. The menu is varied,
the interior is pleasant and the staff are extremely polite &
professional..
The best vegetarian restaurants in Berlin are the Hakuin,
with its Buddhist monk atmosphere and the exquisite Abendmahl. Both
offer an amazing selection of vegetarian dishes, and the prices are
very reasonable, considering the quality & quantity you receive.
Other tried and tested vegetarian restaurants we’d recommend whilst
on your Berlin short stay weekend are: Thuernagel, Cafe Tiago, La
Maskera, Maharani and the Indian palace. Contact the German holiday
travel specialists about dining in Berlin and about our awesome city
breaks packages. |
