and August.

By heading two miles south of central Prague, you’ll find another
fabulous city break excursion. Part of Prague’s inseparable skyline
is the fortress, known as Vysehrad. The fortress was established in
the mid-10th century and was the oldest seat of the Czech nobility.
The Vysehrad was originally linked to the Nove Mesto, but the walls
have nearly all but been destroyed throughout the years. Vysehrad
has so much to offer Czech visitors, from the Gothic churches of St
Peter and Paul, intricate gardens for those romantic break strolls
and many historical monuments to be found. The Vysehrad Cemetery is
another major holiday attraction, as this national cemetery has been
the final resting place for hundreds of Czech Republic artists,
scientists and academics. The short breaks tours to Vysehrad are
relaxed, friendly and full of interesting facts, guaranteeing
another unforgettable day out in Czech Republic.
The Town of Kutna Hora was inscribed on the UNESCO
World Heritage
List by a declaration signed in Paris on 9 December 1995. This
historical town presents another exquisite Czech Republic holiday
attraction, every street, house and monument breathes an original
atmosphere and will be a joy to experience. Kutna Hora used to stand
just behind the royal City of Prague some centuries ago and was
called the jewel & the treasury of the country. Kutna Hora was a
wealthy Silver mining settlement and soon became the seat of the
central mint of the Czech lands, which was located in a small royal
castle. The major short breaks landmarks to explore are the St.
Barbara’s Cathedral, the Monastic Church of the Assumption of Our
Lady in Sedlec and the Stone House (a masterpiece of Czech Gothic
architecture).
Karlstejn Castle was founded in 1348, by order of the Czech King
and Roman Emperor Charles IV as a place for safekeeping of the royal
treasures. The present appearance of the castle comes from the last
reconstruction, which was carried out in the purist neo-Gothic style
at the end of the 19th century. Very impressive is the original
step-like order of buildings. At the top of the headland stands the
monumental 60m high fortified Great tower. There are many points of
interest to be discovered at Karlstejn Castle. The highlights for
many Prague short break holiday makers are the Chapel of the Holy
Cross, the replica of St. Wenceslas crown and the largest portrait
gallery of Czech rulers in the country. Book with the Prague Travel
specialists. If you want luxury hotels, interesting tours, Atol
protected flights, cheap city break deals, then you have found the
right weekend break company.
Other worthwhile Prague day trips include Pruhonice and Konopiste
Chateau. Pruhonice was built in the 13th century and is a lovely
place to relax and amble around. Konopiste is a 14th century French
style chateau and although an hour’s journey from Prague, is an
equally wonderful place to visit. |
