one thing you won’t have to worry about in this fine capital!
"Hungarian cuisine is the queen of excellent taste"
If Budapest is the Paris of the East, then you must try some
authentic French style cuisine. Le Jardin de Paris is one of the
best French restaurants in the capital and is found on the Buda side
of the Danube in a historically protected building. Le Jardin awaits
visitors with a lovely garden terrace situated in the historical
yard of the restaurant, where ancient brick walls, huge trees and
beautifully set tables convey a romantic and charming atmosphere.
Every night the oil lamps are lit and soothing jazz is played,
creating the perfect evening ambiance. Short breaks clients that
want to add luxury to there stay should consider Le Jardin. Another
French restaurant, oozing charm and chic sophistication is La
Fontaine. The owner was quoted saying ‘the best reward is the smile
of our client at the end of a good meal.’ These two French cuisine
restaurants are ideal choices for romantic breaks in Hungary. The
menu in the Gundel is based on refined versions of Hungarian dishes,
reviving traditional fares once eaten at the tables of East European
aristocracy and offering specialties of the world’s major culinary
cultures. It’s Budapest’s most famous restaurant and as you’d expect
the most expensive. The service, food and interior are of the
highest standards and will surely add something extra to your
citybreak holiday experience. Reservations during the weekends are
essential, but of course Vamos Travel will be delighted to make
these arrangements for our valued clients. Gundel, is a Budapest
short breaks top table. To evoke the atmosphere of a good,
traditional restaurant of the past, then try the Owl’s castle. The
menu is filled with traditional dishes of large portions, served by
extremely hospitable staff. There motto is very fitting: ‘You are
not a guest, you are at home.’ Owl’s Castle is located in the
central park and is a great place to try Hungarian cuisine. If
you’re still craving for that authentic Hungarian taste, then we
suggest you try, Vörös Postakocsi and Hungaricum Grill in the
centre, just two minutes walk from Kálvin square. Guests here will
experience the inviting atmosphere of turn-of-the-century Hungary
and have the chance to savour the local specialities and Hungarian
wines. The restaurant emphasizes friendly service at moderate prices
and is a great place to eat whether on Budapest stag night,
corporate function or a short city break. Maybe not the most
original of restaurants to try, but if you don’t like surprises,
then there is always the red & white strips of TGI Fridays. It’s the
same formula that works across the world, but if you like their
American style of cooking, US memorabilia interior and food
presentation, then TGI’s isn’t half bad. As you’d expect, the place
is filled with tourists and the occasional noisy stagdo but the
lively atmosphere makes for a fun evening. Reservations are normally
not necessary. On the Pest side, in one of the oldest neighborhoods
called Leopoldstown, is the Belgium beer café ‘Mosselen’. The
restaurant serves over 31 types of Belgian beer, some on draft and
others are imported bottles. This Belgium haven offers exclusively
fine traditional cooking, the staff are helpful and the drinks
selection is mind blowing. Although the heavy wooden interiors makes
this place look like a familiar pub, Mosselen is not just for beer
lovers & Budapest stag weekends but for people that appreciate
quality French & Belgium culinary dishes. The A38 Panorama
Restaurant is found on a reconstructed carrier ship, which is
harboured on the banks of the Danube. Reshaped, rebuilt and
rehabilitated, A38 has become a trendy venue, overlooking the
beautiful river. A38 has already made a name for itself for being
one of the best dance venues, but not enough people know, that its
restaurant on the upper deck is a fabulous place to dine on a
weekend break in Budapest. Not only is the food exquisite, the
restaurant offers amazing views of the Pest side, the National
Theatre and the National Concert Hall. For somewhere different to
dine on your short break Hungary holiday, then A38 could be a great
choice. As well as offering ATOL protected flights, luxury hotels,
private transfers and bargain city break packages, we provide our
valued clients with many other complimentary services, like table
reservations and informational packs. If you’re worried about
missing your Friday night curry, don’t fear! As Budapest has a wide
choice of Indian restaurants to find and indulge. One of the more up
market & classier Indian establishments is the Bombay Palace. The
prices might be higher than other places we’ve visited, but the menu
is extensive and the food is well prepared. There’s a relaxed
atmosphere, the waiters are welcoming and the Budapest stag nights
type crowd is not encouraged by the management. Quite different in
its interior approach is the groovy ‘Kama Sutra’. The dishes are
excellent and are very reasonably priced, making this one of the
funkiest Indian restaurants to try in the capital. Two other popular
establishments that serve tradional Indian cuisine are the Maharaja
& the Taj Mahal. They both have an excellent reputation among the
locals and expats. Italian cuisine is well represented in here, if
not overly populated with pizzeria’s and Italian café-restaurants.
One of the most loved Italian establishments is Trattoria Toscana,
situated near the Danube in district V. The Trattoria Toscana only
endeavors to use the freshest and highest quality ingredients
available and although this is reflected in the prices, your taste
buds will be thanking you for a long time. There is an amazing range
of fish as appetizers and for the main meal: swordfish carpaccio
served with pink pepper and citronette is just one of the many
highlights. The wine list is also top-notch and includes both
Italian and Hungarian wines. Don’t be disappointed on your romantic
Budapest short break, let Vamos travel make reservations, so you too
can appreciate this taste of Italy. Located downtown, only a few
minutes walk from Astoria is the Restaurant Fausto. Here you’ll find
an appetizing menu with wonderful service offering you an
irresistible program of authentic Italian cuisine. The Páva, Four
Seasons at the Gresham Palace Hotel, also offers an experience of
fine dining. They serve the finest Italian cuisine in a simple yet
highly luxurious space on the ground floor of the hotel. The view
from this restaurant for guests will probably be worth half the
price of the food. We highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and
hotel for luxury holiday breaks abroad. There are many other world
cuisines to be found and enjoyed. For Sushi lovers, try the Shiki
Four Seasons Japanese restaurant in Buda. Shiki has been open for 8
years, winning best Japanese restaurant for 5 consecutive years.
Judge for yourselves. Fuji Japan is another great sushi restaurant,
where you can watch the chefs at work, conjuring up amazing
authentic oriental dishes. One of the most popular dining
establishments is the Mexican style, Iguana Bar & Grill. Opened in
1997 Iguana specializes in authentic Tex-Mex cooking, with a menu
that famously offers ‘everything from chorizo to cheeseburgers’.
This busy restaurant seats over 120 people and can easily
accommodate large groups, birthday parties, stagweekends and special
events. The gallery comfortably seats forty and has been the scene
of many a lads do party, wedding and press conference. Iguana also
hosts the cities biggest Cinco de Mayo Street Party, held at the
beginning of May. The Belcanto restaurant is located in the close
proximity of the Opera and is a fine choice for a table reservation.
The restaurant offers both high quality food and entertainment.
Often the waiters sing alongside the talented classical musicians,
to create a unique and unforgettable evening. Also, connected to the
Belcanto is a nice club room that provides a pleasant atmosphere of
music and entertainment from 8pm everyday. You wouldn’t expect an
elegant restaurant in a shopping centre, but that is exactly what
you will find at the Belvedere in the Huvosvolgyi shopping centre.
The dining room is an oasis amidst the mundane world, with live
plants and an indoor waterfall adding a sense of serenity. Attentive
waiters offer impeccable service, the menu features a variety of
Hungarian and international cuisine that is sure to appeal to the
discerning palate. Belvedere is not just an escape from shopping,
but a destination for fine dining. Vamos Travel is always delighted
to make table reservations for our valued city breaks clients.
Contact the Eastern Europe specialists. Many Eastern Europe capitals
are known for there medieval themed restaurants and Budapest is no
different. While limited for time on a holiday breaks in Budapest we
would suggest to make reservations at the Sir Lancelot. Here the
food is served on wooden troughs, the waiters are in period costumes
and the walls are covered in swords & shields. Dining in these
bizarre surroundings is unique and a lot of fun and will add some
great memories to your holiday in Hungary’s great capital. Alabardos
in the heart of the Castle district and a few steps away from
Matthias Church, offers a first-class dining experience in the most
knightly manner. Eating in the Alabárdos, is like dining in the
atmosphere of the knight's hall of a medieval castle. The service is
impeccable, the food is expertly made and the interior makes for a
truly wonderful dining experience. We would highly recommend
restaurant Alabardos. Go East to Hungary, the most wonderful city
break destination in Europe. The restaurant named after the great
Hungarian king Matthias opened in 1904. Since then the Matyas Pince
restaurant has lost none of its charm and food excellence. The
restaurant serves authentic Hungarian foods, accompanied by the
finest wines of the country and Gypsy music played by members of the
Lakatos dynasty. The beautiful stained glass windows and frescoes,
recount scenes from the life of King Matthias and waiters and
waitresses serve at table dressed in period costume. The atmosphere
is intended to take you on a romantic journey back in time and we
highly recommend to our Budapest city break clients to be apart of
this dining adventure. Roger Moore, Grace Kelly and Richard Nixon
have dined here. Articsóka is one of the hottest tables in Budapest
to dine. Refined food, professional service and great décor, without
the high prices. The glass ceiling, the palm trees and the extensive
greenery that decorate this restaurant situated in an inner
courtyard in downtown Budapest, all reflect easy-going elegance and
a southern feeling. Do not miss the chance to visit this stylish
restaurant during your Budapest break weekend. Malom Tó restaurant
and café is idyllically situated next to a small lake and is one of
the nicest places to eat in district II of Budapest. The interior
and terrace are beautifully furnished, the atmosphere is tranquil
and the cuisine is international. The chef is particularly talented,
the menu is always interesting but not over complicated and the
service is superb. |
