Dining out in Bucharest

Eating out, the essential restaurant guide

The choice of restaurants in Bucharest is diverse. You can choose from Syrian to Greek and from Brazilian to Swiss, you name it, they have it. These unbiased reviews have been compiled by first hand experiences, to give our clients a great guide to eating out.

Brasseir Crown Plaza has a wonderful ambience and a chef who specialises in ethnic food theme nights. The result of this combination makes it one of the most enjoyable and popular restaurants to try.

La Mama, is a fabulous and extremely popular restaurant. It is a Romanian restaurant that serves huge portions of speciality dishes in a fun and friendly environment. It has an outdoor terrace, which adds to the appeal in the warm summer months. We would recommend putting this high on any ones list when travelling to Bucharest on a short break.

Cina restaurant is a lovely restaurant. The chef specialises in traditional Romanian dishes. There is a huge outdoor terrace, a great wine list and the possibility to relax and listen to the live music most nights. It is recommendable for those on a romantic break and for larger parties wanting to celebrate a special occasion. Please contact your Vamos Travel consultant for help with pre-booking restaurants.
Acquarium is a well respected and rated Italian restaurant that serves excellent pasta dishes. It is glass fronted on two sides and has a light interior making for a relaxing atmosphere.

Bistro Atheneu is a relaxed Parisian syle bistro that serves a wide variety of national cuisines in an eclectic setting. It is a good choice for lunch while exploring Bucharest on your city break holiday in Romania.
Casa Vernescu is an elegant French restaurant in a beautiful 19th century building. Inside you are surrounded by fresco’s, marble columns and guilded borders. As well as speciality dishes such as lobster, beef and goose-liver in red wine sauce it also offers Bucharest break holiday makers a chance to try some authentic Romanian kitchen. An ideal place for a special meal whilst on your Romania holidays.

Silviu’s restaurant is a great place to try during your short break. Here you can choose between one of two main salon dining rooms or if you are a larger party you can book a private room. The service and kitchen is first class but the prices are extremely reasonable. Discerning travellers, Opera break lovers and even upmarket Bucharest stag do’s could find the intimate service most welcoming. The restaurant is located close to the Cotroceni Palace.

To experience a very traditional Romanian styled restaurant then make your way to Burebista. Here you will find a taverna environment; sheep skin chair covers and handicrafts & stuffed animals adorning the walls. Each night the folk musicians in traditional costume play and create a fun Romanian ambience for travellers on holiday in Bucharest. You will also have opportunity to try some splendid Romanian dishes such as tochitura de pui (chicken and veg stew) or sarmale (cabbage stuffed with rice, meat and herbs); both are very tasty! We can reserve tables here for birthday parties or stag nights in Bucharest or any other special event where a lively atmosphere is required.

Restaurant Bradet is translated as “little fir tree”. It’d decoration is wooden and quaint and it’s food wholesome and great value. It is a fun and novel restaurant for city breakers in Bucharest to try; but be warned it is small and can be smokey. Discerning parties in Bucharest can hire this restaurant too; and enjoy the warm environment and generous hospitality that the waiters and waitresses exude.
