This section of the website highlights the best restaurants in
Bratislava. We only list and review, restaurants that our staff or
our clients have visited & recommended. So let us be your food guide
and use our positive experiences to enhance your dining enjoyment
whilst on your city break stay.
There are some great restaurants and interesting locations to eat
in Bratislava. There is a food market in the centre of town
surrounded by charming restaurants and in the vicinity of the castle
you can find the more sophisticated dining establishments for your
Slovakia break away. Hradna vinaren is housed in the former Castle
stables but don’t worry there is no sign of our four legged friends
wandering around anymore. In fact this is one of the best
restaurants in the capital. It is renowned for its fabulous Slovak
cuisine and the elegant ambience under the huge chandeliers make it
an almost regal venue. The terrace also offers beautiful panoramic
views of the Old Town. On the winding cobblestoned streets leading
up to the castle, you might come across the Blue Star or Modra
Hviezda Restaurant. The interior is tasteful and there is also
seating available on the terrace, perfect for those warm romantic
summer nights. The staff are attentive but not over bearing and the
menu (available in English), explains about each dish and where it
originates. For a quiet romantic break restaurant, that guarantees
delicious food at very reasonable prices, then we suggest you give
this place a try on your Slovakia holidays.
Within the city there are a many restaurants that offer
traditional Slovak specialities and the specialities of the neighboring countries, too. One can taste Hungarian, Czech and
Austrian cooking that influenced the original Slovak cooking.
Slovenska restaurant is located near the Opera House and is the best
place in town to sample traditional Slovak cuisine. There are a
great variety of regional specialities and the live traditional
Slovak music adds to the pleasant atmosphere. Interestingly, the
Slovenska restaurant team won three bronze medals at the ‘Culinary
Olympics’ in Germany in October 2004. It’s an essential top
Bratislava short breaks table to try and dine, we’ll be happy to
make table reservations for your stay in Slovakia. Another
must-dine, is the ‘Brit’ restaurant. Although the name sounds like
it will be catering for Bratislava stag dos, it is actually a local
Slovakian restaurant with a phenomenal menu presenting a wide
variety of tasty dishes. We highly recommend to our clients to try
this on their holidays. Located opposite to the Hotel Danube on the
corner is the lovely authentic Slovak restaurant ‘Korso’ and is
respected for its good prices and excellent service and high quality
food. It’s a very popular place to dine, so to avoid disappointment
on your citybreaks, you should reserve a table. Book a fantastic
bargain getaway with the Slovakian travel specialists.
Peoples lounge Restaurant successfully occupies an important
place in the locals hearts and is situated in one of the best
locations in the downtown area. It faces the Carlton Hotel, the
Bratislava Opera House and the Hviezdoslav Square. The two part
organization of its interior is both friendly and sophisticated. It
merges two new trends in Bratislava like 'culinary pleasure' and
'the cocktail crème de la crème. The restaurant clientele is a
mixture of Slovakia city break tourists, local celebrities and young
successful people that enjoy sharing the same common pleasures, of
good food and drink. The new vegetarian restaurant Elixir 14 is
located on Stefanikova Street, between the old town centre and the
Main Train Station. In a relaxed friendly atmosphere one can enjoy
vegetarian and vegan specialities, low-calorie dishes, as well as
local dishes. Be good to yourselves and dine at Elixir 14, we
recommend this restaurant as a top table for your Slovakia city
breaks. Divesta is a Vegetarian buffet style café and is quite like
a canteen inside but recommended by the ‘lets go’ guide for budget
travelling. Next door there is a diet café apparently accommodating
for special diets and is located on one of the main streets from the
square.
The Paparazzi restaurant & cocktail bar is situated right in the
centre of the capital, in a Neo-classical building from the 19th
century that is simultaneously the seat of the oldest bank. The
interior of the restaurant is very nice and creates a sophisticated
atmosphere. It’s refined and elegant, perfect for those romantic
break evenings out. In case you come too earlier, there is a very
good cocktail bar in the restaurant, which will get you in the right
mood for the coming food delights while a table is being prepared.
Le Monde Restaurant and Bar is nestled in the core of Bratislava's
landmark pedestrian quarter, beneath the pristine Castle and among
the Slovak capital's embassy headquarters. Epitomizing Bratislava's
cultural crossroads between Austria and Hungary, Le Monde offers its
guests a global sampling of cuisine. Just as the name foretells, Le
Monde presents a world of culinary creation in its serene,
minimalist dining room, genial amber cocktail lounge and outside
garden area, perfect for people watching. We certainly recommend an
evening here to coincide with your short Bratislava breaks holidays.
However do not let its understated elegance mislead you. The menu
showcases intricate dishes spanning Scandinavian, Mediterranean,
Asian and Bohemian fare, where New -World Fusion cuisine and Old
-World sophistication merge into a gastronomic journey. Celebrities
that have dined here include: Gene Hackman, Judd Law and David
Schwimmer. Vamos Travel highly recommends this restaurant for adding
some genuine class to your weekend break and we’ll be more than
delighted to reserve you a table at Le Monde.
The Ludwig Restaurant is situated in the heart of the capital on
one of the most busiest streets of the old city. The restaurant is
located in one of the cities oldest buildings but the interior is
modern and makes for a very comfortable evening. The cuisine is
French and the menu is extraordinary, the service is observant and
there is an extensive wine selection. This restaurant will
definitely make a good impression on you, if you chose to dine
there. We suggest booking a table for your luxury break stay.
If you’re searching for something Oriental or spicey, then you’ll
be pleased to know that there are a wonderful selection of Chinese,
Japanese and Indian restuarnts to choose from. For clients that are
lovers of Japanese cuisine, we would suggest you book a table at the
Tokyo Sushi Bar and restaurant. It’s an intimate restaurant, with
both a sushi and Thai menu. Kikaku Sushi Bar was one of the original
Sushi restaurants to open in Bratislava and is in very close
proximity to the Slovak National Theatre. The best Chinese
restaurants to try on your short break holiday in Bratislava are
Palatin on Laurinska, Jasmin on Zidovska and Shanghai at the Hotel
Astra on Prievozska. Chinese restaurants are a popular choice
amongst stag parties coming to Bratislava. If you are a large all
male party, then talk to the management of the restaurant to see if
they will take your group booking. Indian restaurant Krishna is
located in the centre on Bulharska ulica. It is very close to the
Avion Shopping Centre and was the first Indian restaurant to really
offer authentic Tandoori specialities. For a cheap and tasty vegan
Indian cuisine visit Govinda restaurant at Obchodna street and we
also recommend Mahardza, which is found on Borik hill above the
castle. Stag do’s in Bratislava are a common scene in the Indian
restaurants, so ask the management about there group policies to
avoid disppointment. U Filipa is a quality place to dine out. Quite
small in side but also has another larger space for larger parties
and big bookings. Outside there are two places to sit, one in a
small attractive courtyard and the other outside in a small square.
This place is highly recommended; even some of the Slovak
governmental officials dine here. Prices are reasonable for the
choices available and you couldn’t ask for a better location in the
main town square.
Caribics fish restaurant is located on the other side of the road
to the Danube. Very nice interior with a nautical theme running
throughout. For an amazing panoramic view of the city, then reserve
a table at the Veza, T.V Tower. In fine weather conditions, it is
possible to view Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic. The TV Tower
is 200 metres high and the rotating floor in the restaurant is an
extra attraction, allowing dinners to view the capital throughout
360 ° whilst sitting and enjoying a meal or a drink. The rotating
restaurant can be a bit too much for people with unsettled heads or
stomachs. So for those on a Bratislava stag do, you might want to
give this one a miss! The Italian cuisine is known to be not only
one of the most delicious world cuisines but undoubtedly also one of
the most popular ones. Our Slovakia city break guests will always be
happy to know that Italian food is well represented here, with
plenty of excellent places to choose from. Hotel Marrol's restaurant
Messina has a light and delightful atmosphere. The beautiful
surroundings, impeccable service and attention to the smallest
detail will make your dining, reception or banquet an unforgettable
experience. Messina is undoubtedly a holiday must dine. There are
many pizzeria’s throughout Bratislava, but in short here are some
that we’d recommend: Pizza Mizza, La Mama, La Trattoria, Black Rose
and Primo Piano. Contact the Slovakia holidays travel specialist
