France activity holiday for families

Our self drive family adventure holiday in Breil Sur Roya, located in the French Alps was a truly memorable holiday for all the right reasons. Breil is a pretty town situated in a stunning location in the French Alps. Our guides Carlo and Francois were wonderful. They took us through the incredible Barbara Canyon, taught us to Canoe down rapids and were generally great sports. We stayed in the family Gite, situated on a peaceful hillside location with splendid views of the Roya valley. The food was always freshly made for us and we loved relaxing here after a day of action. We have two teenagers who are normally quite restless so this holiday was perfect to keep them entertained. We plan to do it again and I guess there is no better recommendation than that. Thanks again! (Zoe Allen Family)

Arrival Day

Arrival day. Our team are looking forward to meeting your family and welcoming you to the stunning Roya valley. All we ask is you bring a smile!

Kayak Course day

Your first activity full day starts with the ever popular Kayak course day. For beginners you will start off on the turquoise lake in Breil Sir Roya, learning the essential skills. After lunch – we then take you to test your new found skills on the river. A perfect way to feel one with mother nature.

Mountain Biking

Today we will arrange a full day mountain biking activity adventure. We take you up to Col de Bruis start point, located at 879m altitude offering stunning views of the Alps. Today you will enjoy a varied contrast of terrain from flower covered grass fields, through to mountain tracks. Always a winner with our families!

Tubing fun

It’s time to get wet. Water activities are a lot of fun and none more so that tubing. Enjoy the relaxing feeling of being swept down stream, cool off with a playful splash of the oar and enjoy the excitement of the mini rapids.

Your free day

Breil Sur Roya is a gorgeous town offering a step back in time. There are some lovely independent shops including some wonderful patisseries. There are also some nice café and restaurants to enjoy lunch in. Finally on a free afternoon you may fancy a dip in the local public outdoor swimming pool. It is located in a lovely setting with deck chairs surrounding the pool, so parents can enjoy relaxing with a good book while the kids splash away!

White water canoe rafting

One of the most popular family activities is our white water canoe rafting. Take on the rapids in your inflatable canoe. Steer through exciting stretches, relax in quiet sections and soak in the amazing views. Guaranteed smiles and laughter!

Canyoning time

Well as always we try to save the best until last. Today you have a full day of canyoning. You will be guided on a magical journey through the Barbara canyon. Today you will have chance to try natural slides, jump into crystal clear waters and work your way through Indiana Jones style natural obstacles.

Departure day (too soon)

This is always the hardest day. Its time to say our sad goodbyes – but here at Green World Holidays rather than say goodbye we prefer to say “Until the next time!” J

Please note, we can extend your stay, just talk to our friendly team at Vamos Travel. Maybe you’ll want to see Nice, it is called that for a reason :)

There are three options available on your activity family holiday in France:

Option 1: Stay in our privately owned Gite, located a few miles from Breil sur Roya on a beautiful hillside spot. The Gite is ideal for families looking to get away from everything and relax in a truly stunning position. The food in the evening is prepared for you by your host and is always a welcome bonus after a day of activities.

Option 2: Stay in Hotel Mirval on Half Board basis. Located in the pretty medieval town of La Brige only 20 minutes drive from Breil Sir Roya the hotel offers its guests: 18 rooms with bath and shower, TV, direct dialling phone, Terrace, garden on the stream, dining room, panoramic views, Italian as well as ‘Nice’ dishes and private parking.

Option 3: Stay in the Auberge du Col de Brouis. This lovely renovated Inn is situated in Breil Sur Roya itself, only 10 mins drive from our activity centre office. The Inn offers 5 double rooms – some which can easily be made into triples. The local chef prepares traditional cuisine in the newly refurbished kitchen, and there is a barbeque every Sunday lunch time.

Age limits:

Minimum age is 8 years old to participate in all the mentioned activities. However, if you have children younger than this age, then to talk to our team, who can tailor make the programme to satisfy the whole family. This is a usual dilemma that can be resolved very quickly.

When possible, our activity team co-ordinates family groups by gender & age. This way families have a lot more in common, children can play together and teenagers can hangout!
