We're pretty confident, at
some point in your life, whether it was standing on a train
platform or reading the Sunday magazines, your eyes would
have feasted on Croatia's wonderful Islands.
The iconic adriatic Croatian Islands
are picture perfect & a very luring prospect to keen travellers - and for good
reason! They are truly spectacular, offering pristine nature, small villages,
old towns and aquatic waters.
Overview
of the week
In one week,
you'll discover more areas than a back packer, travelling in
style and resting in comfort. Our wonderful vintage sail ships will take our guests to one side of the
island, where we disembark with our bikes and with your new friends & guide,
will cycle across to meet on the other side.
Want a day off? No problem. This is your holiday. Stay on
the boat with the crew. Sunbathe, swim, explore the Island
by foot. For those enthusiastic bikers, everyday is a new
challenge. We promise a different biking adventure everyday.
Welcome to Sail Croatia bike cruise, and new adventure
holiday to discover the Adriatic Coastline.
Tel: 01926 330 223 and speak with our friendly team. We've
been there & loved it! Watch the youtube video below (green
world holidays is our sister company).
Day 1
Day 1
(Saturday) SPLIT - Solta Island (approx. 25 km / 15
miles of cycling)
We have a social able check in time between 11am and 1pm at
split Harbor. From there we cast off and the adventure
starts, as we head to the first Island of Solta.
We'll cycle along the stone walled fields, drifting past the
olive groves, fig trees and breath in the lavender scented
air.
After a fabulous introduction, making new friendship bonds,
and a good afternoons cycling, we will ferry over to the
famous island of Brac. Our boat nestles in the Milna harbor,
a picturesque deep bay with many natural stone walled
houses.
*Unless you have an early arrival flight, you might need a
pre-night stay in Split. We can recommend many hostels or
private apartments*
Day 2
Day 2
(Sunday) Brac Island (approx. 45 km / 28 miles of
cycling)
Ready? We've warmed the legs up and acclimatised to the
warm air of Croatia. So today we start with a long but even
climb of the crest hill. Brac island is gorgeous, with many
pine forests, olive groves and 'vineyards'. In fact the
famous Vugaca white wine & Murvica read wine has its origins
here.
Interestingly, the bright white marble found in Brac Island
was used in The White house in Washington DC, and the
Reichstag building in Berlin.
During your sail bike adventure, you'll be able to take the
breath taking views of the neighbouring island of Hvar. The
panoramic views on our ascent to the beaches of Bol are
truly wonderful. Bol is home to the 'Golden Horn beach' - an
iconic picture perfect beach, often used in adverts of
Croatia.
Of course we'll break for swimming and relax our bodies in
the warm waters of the Adriatic sea. When we dry off, our
Croatia cycling adventure continues to the longest Island of
Hvar.
Day 3
Day 3
(Monday) Hvar Island
Sail Croatia bike cruise just continues to get better. Yes
today is all about Hvar, the island that receives more
sunshine than anywhere else in the Adriatic. We'll cycle
through small villages, multi coloured fields of rosemary
and lavender. There are some lovely moments to be captured
today, from small stones houses to the glimmer of the sea
line.
Today's biking
tour completes perfectly at the historical city of Hvar.
Enjoy the Gothic palaces and amazing cathedral, but most of
all, you'll enjoy losing your self in the small streets.
This evening, we move to the Island of Korcula.
Day 4
Day 4
(Tuesday) Korcula Island (approx. 45 km / 28 miles of
cycling)
Again, our biking
adventure holiday in Croatia, was designed to show you many
aspects of the Adriatic islands. Today we are in the birth
place of Marco Polo - Korcula. Oh beautiful Korcula. Could
this be the most beautiful of all the Islands? You be the
judge!
On the Island of
Korcula our sail biking adventure travels to Blato, a city
built on seven hills (like the majestic 'Rome'). From Blato
we head steadily onto the medieval town of Korcula with its
small winding streets (similar to Dubrovnik, but with less
tourists). This will be our finally destination of the day,
as the boat is moored here.
Korcula has many
wonderful bars, shops, restaurants and arguably 'the best
sunsets'. Simply relax and let the good times roll.
Day 5
Day 5
(Wednesday) Mljet island National Park (approx. 20 km
/ 12 miles)
Mljet is an adventure travel paradise. The perfect
island for our Croatia bike cruise, being a National Park,
offering pristine nature. The region feels more
Mediterranean, surrounded by lush pine trees, a sparkling
inland lake and sea access.
Of course on our bikes, we discover a much fuller area of
this island than most guests, enriching our eyes and filling
up our digital cameras. We'll cruise around the salt water
lake, climb a few hills, and race down the other sides.
With less
tourists, Mljet feels more exclusive. This evening our boat
continues to the
Peljesac peninsula. Oh yes, i hear your thoughts - biking
sail Croatia looks good! Keep reading, it gets better :)
Our morning cycle
is in the back country, a famous wine growing region. Note
the name Dingac, its a wine worth seeking out. The Dalmatian
area is proud of the name. We'll take a steady pace cycling
up to a 1000 feet above sea level, where panoramic views can
be enjoyed of Korcula Island.
Then its knees &
elbows in, heads down! As we scoot 4 miles down towards
Loviste, a small town where the ship will be. Our boat then
sets off towards the ever popular 'Makarska', which is
nestled below the 5000 ft high mountain peaks. There are
many great beaches in this area, the town is small but
charming and has quite the nightlife! Check out the
nightclub in the cave!
Day 7
Day 7 (Friday) Omis - Split Trogir (ca. 58 km / 36 miles)
On the Croatian mainland our Sail Croatia bike holiday leads us from the town
of Omis along the
valley of the Cetina river right underneath the Mosor
Mountain range. We will put on the pedal power and discover
how quickly the landscape in this area can change character.
We'll take the scenic routes leading back to Split, where
you can take a tour of the wonderful UNESCO old town. Split
has many beach areas to swim, has many bars & clubs and has
great shopping opportunities. Basically, Split can be many
things to many people. You will have fun here for sure! A
perfect way to finish your last full day on your cycling
Sail Croatia activity holiday.
Day 8
Day 8 (departure)
After breakfast, the hardest activity, its time to say good
bye to the crew and your friends!
We never say goodbye!' We look forward to your next Croatia
activity holiday with us!
