Safari in Portugal. As we travel from North to South of the
amazing Golden coastline, we discover the true surf Mecca
of Europe. With a new beach and a new place to sleep
almost every day, landscapes are forever changing, leaving
a deep impression.
The surf safari turns surfing, camping and travelling into
an action packed adventure. Our Surf guides do all the hard
work and preparation, whilst you enjoy the waves, great
company & food. Suitable for complete beginners, advanced
surfers, couples, groups, solo travellers, must be aged
18+
Pre-night
Porto - Sunday (or stay for extra
days)
Porto is also referred to as Oporto in English.
Interestingly, its Portugal's second biggest
city, and a hub of excitement like Lisbon. Porto is
located north of Portugal in the estuary of the Douro river,
with an estimated population of about 220,000. Porto is one
of the oldest European centres, and registered as a World
Heritage Site by UNESCO. It certainly has the history,
culture, and for our younger guests, a party atmosphere.
Some of our guests
arrive early in Porto, to have a short city break, before
starting their Portugal surf Safari experience. So booking
your accommodation is not included in the final itinerary
price.
However, if you would like to book your hotel for the Sunday
- in advance, the additional cost will be: £35.00 pp
Day 1
& 2
Figueira da Foz - Monday & Tuesday
A great way to start a
Monday. YES! Your very own Safari surf holiday in Portugal.
At 8am (in front of McDonalds) you meet your surf coaches &
other guests. After the initial pick up in Porto we drive South bound
and surf Figueira da Foz. We certainly don't do things in halfs, as our first surf area is connected to the
WCT - that's the World Championship Tour of Surfing no
less!!!
Surrounded by swaying Pine trees you can relax
at our luxury campsite, with direct beach access, a
swimming pool, basketball court, table tennis, tennis
courts, bar, restaurant and free wifi. Guests describe this campsite as Deluxe.
Surfing format:
Two sessions of surf classes and free surf on Monday
& Tuesday.
Breakfast
is usually at
8.30am
Lunches are on the beach - with fresh rolls, juicy fresh fruits,
naughty biscuits and plenty of snacks & treats.
Dinner is scheduled for 8.00pm
Day 3
Peniche WCT/WQS
spot and Alentejo - Wednesday
Our safari continues as planned to Peniche, another surf hotspot, where we will surf SuperTubes, Baleal, Lagido or
one of the many other nearby surf breaks.
After another great day of surf, we
drive on to Sines and stay at another fabulous
campsite, with fantastic ocean views right from your very own
tent. Sweet dude!
Note: Our surf location is connected to the
WCT - that's the World
Championship Tour of Surfing no less!!! Follow in the waves
of surf legends like Kelly Slater.
Day 4 & 5
Our
Algarve Surf Camp - Thursday & Friday
On Thursday and Friday we arrive at the infamous Surf camp.
YES! This is our very own oasis in the
Algarve, deep in the National Park away from the tourists!
This is private and comfortable camping in our very own
bamboo and cork tree covered valley. Ask for a Sunset view
tour to the cliff tops out front, sensational, unforgettable
(watch the video to catch a glimpse of the sunset). On the
evenings, we sit by the fire, relax in the hammocks, watch
the stars, enjoy the food & drink - and if the mood takes
us, we turn up the music and have a wild party!
Thursday - surf the Alentejo
Friday -Surf, surf, surf and then some more. - As always
- two
sessions of surf classes, picnic lunch on the beach.
On the evening we experience a legendary - Barbecue party, time for the punch
& to finish the drinks! Video presentation of
the Safari DVD featuring you and your crew. Always a laugh!
Day 6
Departure day
- Saturday morning
A sad day! Yes!
Saturday means time to go home, or … will you stay a few days in
our ever sunny Algarve surf camp? -most transfers are
scheduled after breakfast. -FREE transfers to Lagos train or
bus station.
We can make transfers to FARO Airport and Lisbon airport.
These carry ADDITIONAL charges. See below in the pricing
section.

It's the perfect excuse and reason to stay on! Take your
skills to further advancements, and spend another 7 nights.

• Surfing is
a dangerous sport. Vamos Travel strongly recommends a travel
insurance to protect others, yourself and your belongings.
• Your transport to Lisbon (LIS) or Porto (OPO) for
the surf safari
• Your transport to Faro (FAO) for the surf camp
• A small pick up and drop off fee is required in some
cases
• Sunglasses, hat, swim outfits, shorts, sweat
t-shirts, beach towels
• Water proof sunscreen spf 15+ or higher,
temperatures mostly vary between 20 and 35 degrees
• A sleeping bag, some warm clothes for the night, a sweater or jacket and a torch
• Some pocket money (extra snacks, alcohol, extra
excursions)
• You can bring your own music, our stereos also play
mp3/wma discs
• Flights are NOT included.
We expect you to book your flights independently. Our
starting destination is PORTO, which has its own airport.
The following airlines connect with PORTO from the UK. Or
you can consider flying to Lisbon or Faro and making your
own way to Porto.
