The Eskimo Experience

The igloo village is found at Krvavec. At just 35minutes drive from the capital, Ljubljana, and a mere 10km from the airport, its pretty obvious why this is an incredible place for a ski weekend. Amazingly, the British public haven't really caught on, so the slopes aren't overly populated, making ski lift runs even quicker. Krvavec offers 25km of trails, plenty of off piste, jump spots for snowboarders and an excellent ski school. Most importantly to note is the price. Beer, food, passes, equipment & even ski instruction is about 1/3 cheaper than popular resorts in France, Italy & Austria.

From the top of the 'Krvavec' gondola our Eskimo guide meets our guests. Bags & equipment gets whisked away by snowmobile & our guests prepare themselves with head lamps to begin there 30 minute snow shoe into the early evening light. The views at Krvavec are nothing short of spectacular, with layer upon layer of snow-capped majestic mountains. As the sunsets, there's this incredible glow in the distance, muffled by the thick alpine clouds. (see right)


 

The Eskimo Experience

The greatest experience is definitely sleeping in the igloos. The beds are crafted from a special snow block, first covered in a layer of insulation material and then with sheep skins, on which special expedition sleeping bags ideal for cold temperatures are waiting for you.

With 5 Igloos, couples can find 'romance on ice' & groups can also enjoy a party atmosphere. Adjacent to these sleeping igloos are the snow village’s igloo restaurant, igloo bar and igloo sauna, the building which required the most time and inventiveness.

We recommend to try the "Eskimo" shot – a mix of Finlandia vodka and apple liqueur – served in a glass made of ice. On the evening, we play music, enjoy food and meet new friends. Our guests also have their pick of the numerous winter sports available in igloo land: sledding, snow biking and snowshoeing among them.
