Get to know
me.......
Why do you think activity
holidays are worth trying?
It is a really fun occasion for friends and families to come
together and experience beautiful nature, whilst at the same
time having a thrilling experience. You meet like minded
people, try many sports which are not possible in some
countries and you leave with the most amazing memories. I
think, if you only try it once in your life, then you must.
What are your favourite
adventure activities to enjoy in Tolmin? And Why?
I really enjoy a combination of both land & water based
activities. My favourite land activity is mountain biking. I
have cycled all over Europe, but for me Slovenia has the
most special feeling. In the water, then it has to be either
water rafting or Canyoning. White water rafting is the most
fun, working as a team, sharing the adventure at every twist
and turn with your friends. Canyoning is always a surprise,
offering unexpected pleasures, it makes me feel like a big
kid again. It wouldn’t be an adventure holiday without
trying this.
What are your typical job
roles? Any favourite parts?
I work both within the activity holiday office and leading
our groups on adventures. My favourite part is being with
clients. I love to see the smiles on their faces. I have a
passion for nature and sports, and to see families, couples
& schools come here again and again, and share the enjoyment
of my passions, it’s a great feeling. I’m lucky to do a job
I love and meet so many nice people. Yes the hours can be
long, but its totally worth it.
Best memory during your time
working in adventure holidays in Slovenia?
So many too choose. But the very best has to
be making so many best friends. I’ve been lucky to work with
so many great people. We are all a big family now. Also, I
love to see the children develop their skills and take on
rapids without fear. Kids are full of energy, and this
reminds us all to enjoy our time now!
3 words (only) to describe
the Soca Valley & the Tolmin region?
Green, spectacular, breathe-taking (I’ve
cheated, I used 4 words!!!!)
Slovenia is the only country
to have the ‘Love’ in its name, but why do you love
Slovenia?
This is my home from home. 1hr 30min from the UK, this is
the place to come for sports and adventure. Slovenian people
are welcoming, the food is great and prices are cheaper.
It’s easy to love this country.
The greatest debate of them all. What
is the best Slovenian beer. Lasko or Union?
I recommend
'Union'.
What do you
like about Slovenian food? Any favourite dishes?
The food is
more organic, more than often, it is locally sourced.
Especially in Tolmin, where the food is all 100% locally
sourced. There are no surprises or strong spices with
Slovenian food. I would describe it, as hearty, fulfilling &
tasty food. My favourite Slovenian treat is
Potica cake
(Pronounced paw teet zah). After a day of rafting or biking,
I always look forward to a slice of cake.
Any other remarks?
I look forward to seeing you in Tolmin. Here is the very
best place to try adventure sports, meet great people and relax in
green surroundings. Our summers are very nice, temperatures
are great!
